Did you ever have transmission failure because you never changed the ATF? mileage?

Yes 300k.

They look new because I care for them. They’re coated annually with fluid/woolwax. I am original owner on all of them.

AK doesnt use salt, uses no ethanol in gasoline and has no income or state sales tax.
BTW, with no ethanol, do you notice a difference in fuel economy?

☝️Preach.

At 78K, did you connect to a fluid exchange machine to fully change? What did the fluid look like? Just curious, because you tow frequently. Also, did you do a new fliter?
No I did the 3qt at a time cooler line method. It was kinda dark but not bad. I bought the truck at 72k and don’t know how it was driven before!

I know lots of folks see dark fluid and think it's old and worn, but if it's never been changed I'm not entirely sure that's true. I know at least in the case of gears they have a phosphorous coating which will come off during the break-in period which makes the fluid turn dark. That doesn't harm the fluid, but after a few hundred miles it will make the fluid a darker color. I don't know if transmissions are the same but I would not be surprised if the gears are also coated.

this got me curious ... Toyota calls for ATF Replacement in some cases @ 60k and there after every 60k from what I can find. Heavy Vehicle loading would encompass a lot of the trucks here.
I did mine just as part of what I consider prudent maintenance on the truck.. I also do the diffs and transfer case every 50k. The diffs I'll probably switch over to yearly since I am nearing 100k miles.

Correct. Replacement in that case though means draining and re-filling the pan, which is about 1/4 the total fluid

It was for 10 Liters, so a full flush from the looks of it. They did say they use an extractor on it.
I thought it was quite reasonable considering the PITA it is to DIY.

That's similar to what my local dealer charges for the same service. They marked 12 quarts on my invoice, but similar service to replace the fluid using "the machine".
