Oh....come on Dan, you had fun ;)

You made it look too easy...or maybe that was Bob that made it look to easy :grinpimp:

Brian, you are definitely thinking of Bob. He made it up first, and without any of the spotting help me and others had. I just no likee that offcamber spot on the trail down to the falls that reallllly tips you outboard toward the 1000 foot drop.

You went up so fast, I didn't even get a shot of ya.

How's the steering coming?

Might as well start a new thread...

This ones going to the dogs

3 or 4 of you know my thoughts on this topic.:ban:

They seem to be well founded.:D

To those that have done this trail before, are there any significant water crossings?

You will cross water 3 times, it really depends on rains. I have seen it very low and have seen it about 2 ft deep. Nothing to really sweat as far as snorkels and all.

okay, well 2 feet's no big deal.

famous last words....

"nah, you'll be fine"

I say let's take Bob's suggestion and have the main meeting place at Sheetz on the corner of 29 and 230. Once there we'll have an idea of the number and type of rigs and can decide at which point we'll enter the trail.

For those of us coming from the north (Riad, Brandon, etc) Bob has offered to let us meet up at his place just off 29 in Warrenton and follow him down to the primary meeting place in Madison. We can get the details straight next week, but Riad, you'd just take 66 to 29 South and come down 29.

OK well i am out. I dont think I'll be able to get a ride home that weekend, and I like my rockers the way they are. After i get some sliders and a locker then ill make a trip up there. Have fun and take lots of pictures.

Anyone going on Sunday? With all the snow we are "going" to get, it could be a fun weekend.

There is another small group that may be heading out Sunday.

yes I would like to find someone willing to go this Sunday.

you guys should have some fun, especially if we get all the snow they are talking about.

Yeah, but will that snow last for the week? We're not going out until Saturday the 18th.

At this point, the weather is supposed to be 50 and rainy on the 18th.

Devil's Ditch is a little different story, particularly if it's wet or snowy.

Not to belabor a point but........:shotts:

If it's wet, and we can't make it up the hill climb to the waterfall, then so be it.

I'm going to stick with my wide-eyed enthusiasm.

You don't want to go to Rapidan if there's snow on the ground unless it's good and cold. We went when the temperature was in the low 30s and the snow just turned to ice as soon as you drove on it. It took us forever to winch out on the access road.

Now if it's good and cold, that's a great time to go with snow. The creek ices over and the wheeling is great.

I guess its just a waiting game to see how things turn out next week.

We all know how unpredictable the weather can be!

Are we allowed to invite our own budds to come along with their rig(s)? I would like to invite a friend of mine with SASed 4Runner. I am not sure if he is up for it but on the other hand don't want to over crowd the group.

Sure. I mean I aint organizing it but I always like a good size group cause it makes it more interesting. But again it ain't my call. I am sure a lot of people will start dropping out soon anyway.
