If anyone from Richmond is going I would like to follow them up. If not I will need directions. I would like to check this place out.

I am friends w/ jcj_78FJ40 and live about 20 mins from the trail head and would like to attend also. I don't find many wanting to go there local. The hill climb is the only real difficult part. The rest is doable with decent spotting.
As far as legality, it's not like it is new, my father says they have been running that trail since the 70's and until the flood of 95 it was doable in stockers. I have never seen any gates anywhere on the trail, and would assume if it was illegal, there would be at least cable gates up. I wonder how much is just rumors to keep alot of people from going there. It does seem to have become popular in the last 2 years so crowds could become a problem.

There are a couple of ways to go in. Usually we would meet on the corner of Rt29 and Rt33 (there is a Burger King I think).

Could you post direction coming from 66 west?

Thanks

:D

Okay, here's the deal. From what I've heard about the trail, it's a much more enjoyable experience with a smaller group of say 6-8 trucks. I'm certainly not kicking anyone out of the ride, but let's stick with the dozen or so folks that have posted in this and the clcc thread thus far and see where we end up. I'll pm or email all of you to make sure you're still planning on coming.

One other way to handle this might be tp split up into two groups. That would also solve the issue of some of us coming from the north and some from the the south. It looks like so far, seven of us are coming from the NoVA, DC, MD area and 5 are coming from H-burg and Richmond direction. Anyone have any thoughts on this? If it's not that long a drive to drive around from one end to the other, then maybe it won't be a big deal.

Felix

Okay, I think I got everyone. If you've already expressed an interest in this trip somehow (posted in the thread/emailed/pm'd/sent mental telepathy, whatever) and you didn't just get a message from me, let me know.

The best meeting place is the Rt 29/rt 33 intersection in Ruckersville, VA. There is a Burger King/Exxon station all in one lot.

Oh, and I have no problem dragging, I mean leading ya'll to and through the trail :grinpimp:

IN A FORD?

Let me suggest meeting at the Sheetz at 29 and 230. You can easily get to Fletchers or Graves Mill from here.

Yeah Felix trust me you won't have to regulate it. It will regulate itself. People always drop out at the last minute. I am pretty sure Devils Ditch won't turn into the next GSMTR. But I am still in as of this point.

P.S. I would love to see a ford drag me across some trails.... Oh wait can your Ford actually make it to the trail?

John told me to post this pic from the Ditch:

Nothing fancy, just left over parts from other trucks.

Rt 230/29 will work also, just depends where the majority of the group is coming from.

Glad I could rile ya'll up today.

I agree with rtiqulatendisco. The only part you might have problems with is the steep hill climb that hits a trail to the falls at the top. Bob helped this jeep stuck on the hill, but no other jeeps could make the climb. All cruisers made it easily, but all had rear lockers and most had front as well.

There are plenty of other trails, though. If I go, I will wait at the bottom. Once is enough for me.

Oh....come on Dan, you had fun ;)

You made it look too easy...or maybe that was Bob that made it look to easy :grinpimp:

"This ones going to the dogs"

don't you mean horses?

Yeah, that's my testing ground. I just had assembled the inboard shock mounts.

The hill climb has changed, used to only go up the left and had gotten rutted enough that it was pretty hard. Now you can go to the right around the stump and a straighter shot so you can hold momentum.
