X3 These were utility vehicles not show cars. So now to make it show vehicle the spot welds need to show. My first 25 was restored by the PO. That was just one of the many mistakes he made.

Takes me back. :sigh:

When I resto'ed the swb back in '92, my body man [who worked on a couple of Pebble Beach restos] pointed out that the front floor of the bed on the swb 'foated' with respect to the vertical front of the bed. This annoyed him. He offered to weld the front of the floor to the side of the bed, and then went on to explain how he would drill the outer panel at points that matched the spotwelds on the side panels, welding the inner sheetmetal to the outer with the tig so that it would look like spotwelds.:hhmm:

I thought it was a bit much at the time consdiering the panel faced the back of the cab. But his attention to details like this showed up well in other places.:)

IOW...x4

yeah I think the guy is just being thorough :D

I told him it did not need to be perfect, its a truck etc,
I think it will be ok...

I guess i can ask him to ease up...
I just do not want to offend them and have them do a bad job...

I would be just happy to have it painted at this point :D

You are really close Destin. Just explain it to him, and he should understand

It's great to see the progress. In post #917, don't let the guys paint the tool box clasps. You are giving me a lot of encouragement to move forward with my project. Glad you found Mark, he has helped me with a lot of cool NOS stuff, and a great running carb. Brendon

ok back to work :)
Need to make some svn updates before everyone in tokyo wakes up :D

had to add the carb with out the riser...

The right stud was shorter than the left ( driver side bolt was longer )
So no way the riser would have worked unless i replaced the stud :(

Will things be ok with out the riser? Will be using the old PCV that was in the lower throttle body...

Got the parts back from the powder coater.

How tight should the fan belt be tension wise?
It is tight enough now if i turn the fan everything turns over properly...

Will replace the thermostat and housing when they arrive from Mark :D

Sorry for the crap cell photos

Two things I would be concerned about. One that piece would help insulate the carb from the intake manifold. The carb was warped once already. Second wouldn't the carb be too low for a good fit to the air cleaner? If it were me I would try hard to find one. If the port that's drilled is threaded you can always use a plug there.

Just my .02

Thanks man

So i would need to find a long manifold stud/ bolt with threads for one of the carb bolts...
( one is too short for the riser to fit , likely had been replaced )
Is it though to remove the carb bolt stud and replace it?

How do you even go about doing that?

Mark hooked me up with a riser, It is just the matter of the manifold bolt being too short on the side facing the passenger.

the heat riser was stuck closed before as well ( not anymore )
But if the riser is needed i definitely want to put it on if it will cause warpage again...

I haven't had to remove the studs from the F135 cast intake manifold but the way I remove studs is to double the stud with two nuts then remove the stud by using the bottom nut. The trick is knowing when to back off before breaking the stud off. A little heat might help.
