HEy, anybody know where i can get a complete set of plates to cover up the holes for the smog pump on my exhaust manifold....i really wanna desmog my 60:crybaby:

are you talking about where the air rail screws into the exhaust? Pipe plugs?

Jim C. has a write up on the one for the intake area. It is in the tech section. You don't need special plates. Just cut off the pipe with a hacksaw and get someone to weld a little slug of round metal rod in the hole. The EGR port on the lower rear part of the exhaust manifold can be done the same way. It cost me $20 for both at a local welding shop.

What he said. I brased mine.

Oh and get 6 of these. Do it right once and forget about having to do it over.

Ah, Marshall -- I've been looking for that picture for two weeks! Tryin' got the part # for those plugs!

Thanks!

Hardware store 1/4" NPT plugs. OSH has them in stock, Home Depot is hit and miss. Most have a square drive head but they also have allan style.

I pesonally don't like the 1/4 npt plugs as they can leak. Get the Toyota plugs thet are right for the job. They are like 8 whole dollars. On the NPT plugs you are relying on the threads, which are the wrong size, to seal the hole. The Toyota plugs are designed to seal at the end where Toyota had originally designed them to.

Do it right once and forget about it.

get the toyota plugs.... they fit. Hose down the air rail with wd-40 or PB-blaster and let it soak for a day or two. You can remove the entire air rail without without breaking it, without too much of an issue . As I recll the back two or three fittings are a little hard to get to. I would save the air rail unless its rusted bad.
