Amber is a huge improvement in my humble opinion - wrapped the side markers and turn signals.

Sweet Build! my 80 was in Florida for 20 years and in Pennsylvania for 4-5 years before I brought her over. I had a decent amount of rust as well. Took the axles off and sandblasted them! I may do the dry ice for some other parts of the rig.

I have used the dry ice cleaning technique a couple of times and I’m really impressed with it so far. It’s worth a shot if you have someone who knows what they are doing. Does wonders for surface rust and grime.

Nice build, headlights look awesome!!

I also have a desert dune/moonglow two tone. Are your fender flares gaskets black or gray? Photos on page 1 look gray, but some photos look black, is it the lighting or did you replace them with black?

Looking to replace mine and can't figure out what color they came with from the factory for this color combo.

They were factory grey or had been painted by previous owner. I replaced them with factory black ones. Here are some photos that show the current look with black gaskets.

Time for the next phase of restoration for 🌵🌙. I did an inventory and staged all my OEM parts for the drivetrain restoration.

Full engine rebuild and since I struggle with restraint decided to replace basically everything under the hood. More and more likely I’ll have a stage 2 🐌 on this rig any day 👏🏼

Awesome to see another Desert Moonglow. I'm actually originally from Portland, and my 80 I just bought back from my brother lived in Gresham/Oregon City for the last 5 or so years.
Mine's in rougher shape than yours (though I'd bet 99% of 80's are in that category! lol) but It's nice to see what it could be!

The tweeters were also challenging - 4 seperate prints and we still couldn’t get fitment right. Had to step up the Morel Nano Carbons and the mount is OEM+

They will be able to make these out of ABS plastic for sure next time

That's some incredible craftsmanship/CAD work that went into those tweeter housings. Who did this???? BTW, your entire truck is absolutely insanely gorgeous. Oh, and I was also wondering where did you source that steering wheel from?

Thanks for the kind words and glad to hear you have another one out there on the road. My favorite color combo without a doubt! 👍🏻

I had the steering wheel reupholstered by a contact I have in Pakistan. With shipping still way less than the cost to have it done by a professional here (quotes were close to $800 for it). I had the tweeters done locally and have the files if you’d like a set shoot me a DM!

The refresh is going to require replacing fair amount of stuff but also restoring some components.

Vapor Honing, dry ice cleaning, zinc plating, ceramic coatings and potentially a little Cerakote all in store for 🌵🌙

First step cleaning all of this!

Also decided to refinish all of the hardware that was salvageable alongside buying a ton of new stuff. Pretty cool process I learned about where you use an ultrasonic cleaner + evaporust to clean the bolts. Local plating company will zinc coat them all this week 🙌🏼

Nothing Like fresh bolts.

It's going to be fun fingering out where they all go now.

Gorgeous build. Fellow overkill tendencies!
