Definitive list of AHC maintenance items (4 Viewers)

Hello!

I'm looking at replacing the rear coils in my 2007 LX. Neutral pressures are a bit high. There are different part numbers for LX vs LC. Is anyone aware of differences between the LX470 and Landcruiser AHC spring rates?

LX470 springs:
48231-6A730
48231-6A740

Landcruiser springs:
48231-6A780
48231-6A770

The only mention I was able to make of this was an unanswered thread from 2012

Well i rolled the dice and ordered the Landcruiser set. Guess we'll find out!

I ordered and used the LC Ahc springs in my '03 LX. Seems just fine.

Still haven't installed the used non-AHC LC coils yet.

As far as diagnostic readings go it doesn't get much easier than hooking up to a laptop running TechStream, call around Indy Toyota shops and your dealers and ask what they charge for a diagnostic reading of your neutral pressures. Probably .5 hour labor max in it, but worth the ask. You can purchase a pirate copy TechStream and the USB OBD interface for $35 that runs in win XP or later with a bit of manipulation. Once you get the front and rear pressure numbers it's as simple as cranking TB adjuster bolts and adding coil spacers/new coils if necessary. Sorry can't help with pa shops.

I just got off the phone with my local Toyota dealership and the guy (their service manager) made it sound like I was speaking greek. He's going to do some research and call me back. I've dumped in new fluid twice now, and the ride has certainly improved, but I am noticing when it's in low that the front wheels are quite a bit lower than the rear. I'm hoping the globes aren't failing.

Failing globes will not affect ride height. Failing or maladjusted height sensors will.
The state of the globes you check by counting the difference in fluid height marks between Lo and Hi.
The height you check by following the simple procedure in the FSM. The front is supposed to look a bit lower than the rear.

Good to know. Maybe it's not that the fronts are lower, but they look like the camber is slightly off.

Ok, I know they're ok them because I have more than 7 graduations between Lo and Hi.

I'm trying to space out the cost of the 120k service and AHC fluid is part of it. System is acting fine as far as I can tell so I'm wondering how long I can put this one off....

Did oil change, spark plugs, and the other fluids are fine. Brake fluid is OK even though schedule says to replace it.

It won't die without you changing it, nor would I call it a ticking time bomb. To me, it's just like an oil change or tranny fluid change...you can pay now, or pay (perhaps more) later. A value judgement.

Yes, I change the springs last year. My LC only had 40,000 miles but it was seven years old. With five or more passengers in the LC, it would go into low. I change the springs and added 30 mm spacers. Now with eight passengers or fully loaded for off-road, it still will not going to low by itself.

I changed my springs (with the one's rusty drummer installed on his truck before removing AHC). The old ones were 2" shorter. Mine wouldn't always go into high with a light load in the truck and a light trailer. Seems stiffer now, no worries now with light/medium loads.

OME 2866s on an AHC truck are a bust. Tried today and way too stuff. Truck won't adjust out.

Guess I'm gonna give oem non AHC springs a shot.

Since you've already put money into OME springs, just get some new TBars and traditional shocks and be done with it. I made the switch a while back and am very happy with the results and nice to know that I don't have to worry about AHC problems anymore.

Did you try the oem ahc or non ahc spring? Success?

Went back with oem AHC springs. They did make a difference for the better.
