Hey Guys,

When I first got my FJ, I knew it was a lot of work. But I never know how much work, time, or how money I needed.

It’s been 5 years and she’s almost finished. My dad got me into these, I hope he’s looking down with a smile.

Things done so far:

Chassis swap/frame off- Chassy has been sand blasted, weather proofed, and painted.

Suspension- Old Man Emu 2.5 Inch Heavy Duty Lift. New Body/Chassis mounts.

Brake lines/Gas lines replaced. Brakes, rotors, and calipers, have all been replaced.

No rust on this rig at all.

NEW: Coil, Full Tune, Alternator, Starter, Clutch, Balancer Pulley, And Distributor have all been replaced.

Regarding the exterior, I really want the ARB bumpers and spare tire mount.

I’m going to work on the interior next. Headliner and maybe a new carpet. Let me know what you guys think.

Wow! Amazing truck! My dad got me into one and now I’m trying to get him back into one.🤣

Looks like a on of work to get it where it is. Congrats and good that you are honoring your father's memory. The suspension/tires/wheels give it a good stance.

Since you're in NY, rustproof it heavily on the back side of every panel and spray Lithium grease (aerosol cans) in every crevice around the rear fenders - while the cargo panels are off. I'm sure you're no stranger to rust. I literally take handfuls of axle grease and work them into seams and cracks. Anything entombed in grease will not rust.

Thanks so much Steve!

I really wanted a nice aggressive stance. I have rustproofing underneath but I will also consider your advice.

Thanks again for stopping by!

I am sure your dad would be proud, there is something really special about the bond over a beloved vehicle between dad and son (or daughter). I have been lucky enough to experience it with my youngest son and our 60's. My older son is a gear head too, but 60's are not his thing (I am working on it).

Great work. Not a horrible amount of rust, but nice job addressing it. One question. You mentioned doing the headliner later. did you peel it back to inspect the inside of the a-pillars as well as the inside of the metal drip rails all the way around....Rust often hides in there and starts from the inside out.
