Frame # is as close to a VIN as you'll get for a vehicle that didn't have a VIN assigned. Using ToyoDIY to decode you'll get the same info as if you'd punched in a VIN.

Thanks Ian, you are quite correct in respect of Toyota DIY.

I have just checked the Frame number on the chassis (behind the right hand front wheel), and yes, 12 characters, the same as on the plate.

just saw this thread. can you guys tell the production date from this plate? trying to figure out what springs I need for my 1991 HDJ81 from dobinsons as 91 is an in between year for different part codes?
