Toyota has nothing new to compare to the 4-door Wrangler. On top of that the 80-series cannot equal it either. Face it...Wrangler is KING!

How in the world did you go from SASing a 200 to crowning a Heep King? C'mon man.
I also wonder what a 200 could do with a diamond front axle and armor.:hhmm:

Shotts - Please turn in your LC membership card by trading in both your LCs for a couple of Jeeps.

Also, I would consider a Heep if they put a turbo diesel in it. I would keep the Cruiser since the TD is built by Fiat (Fix It Again Tony).

I think we should prototype it first!
Send me the Diamond, and I'll put it on my First Gen 4X4 and tell you what I think, then skip town with said axle!
:grinpimp:

You guys have to be HONEST with yourselves and REALISTIC! Instead all you post is "Toyota rules no matter what".

That's CRAP!

*Anybody who would consider SAS a 200-Series would have to do it to add more capability. Otherwise there is NO reason to SAS a 200.

*SAS on a 200? It's still huge, has poor articulation, small wheel wells, I could go on and on. Making it even close to as capable as a JK UL would take WAY MORE than a SAS...so you might as well keep the lovely 200 as is and spend the same cash on a JK UL.

BE HONEST WITH YOURSELVES!

Forget SAS, how about portals under a 200?

An expedition truck on portals... - Page 50

Also, I am honest with myself, the new Jeeps are not as overbuilt as a 200 or 100 or an 80 or basically any LC ever built. That is why I have a 100.

When contemplating a SAS the discussion is not about "overbuilt". It's about capability. In that department the 200 loses badly easpecially for that huge investment.

If you want to talk about "overbuilt" then that's fine. I agree all the way and the Cruiser of course has the Wrangler beat. But that's not the discussion. :)

I don't think anybody here said "Toyota rules no matter what", it seems to me that many a folk here want a good with a beam axle without having to end up owning some Mopar pile of s***.
Maybe the new barbie heeps are more capable than a 200, but that's only part of the picture, and that capability will pale in comparison to the fact that everything Chrysler makes is mean to be discarded and replaced in five years.
Hell, personally, if I wanted a nice truck that could go places, had power, was suitably built, and worth owning, I'd go grab a Raptor. Sure, it's not as small as a heep, and more expensive, but I trust Ford's quality over Chrysler's lack-thereof any day.

FWIW, a beam axle isn't really the end-all-be-all. In crawling, SFA is a must, but for 90% of the wheeling done, suitably built IFS will get you where you need to go, and get you home.

I am seriously curious why you drive a land cruiser if you believe in Jeep so much???

I'd not want either...a 200 or a Wranger. It's not about me.

It's about wasting money to SAS a new 200 LC as your gains are LITTLE overall. Stupidity in my opinion. Taking a $70K luxury vehicle and making a Wrangler out of it. DUMB!

Jeep is only brought up because if somebody is willing to live with a SAS vehicle then just go buy a new Wrangler. It'll KILL a SAS 200 on the trails and you'd still have your 200 in ship shape...IFS and durable and luxurios.

Let's be REAL! Planning to SAS a 200 is like SAS'ing a QX56. INSANELY DUMB!

The 200 LC has the same wheel base as your 100 LC and you wheel that. If I had a bank roll that would not feel the dent of a SAS on a 200 LC, I would do it and then be terrified that I would dent it. Again, to me it is about creating something different and not driving the same vehicle everyone else is. But since I would go bankrupt doing it I will stick with my 40. I guarantee it will be done sooner or later and it might as well be SLEE since the do great work!

The 100 was $61K and I put $15K into it. But I left the LUXURY TRUCK intact while adding all kinds of perks.

Taking a 200 and spending $20K on a SAS so it'll be different is just nuts...but it's everyone's right for sure. Then you still need another $15K to add the perks. Then make sure you cut the body up and ruin the thing so you can fit tires with that SAS. This adds up to STUPIDITY in my opinion.

The Wrangler is definately a POS, but great for wheeling: short wheelbase and solid axles is hard to beat. Hell, a decently built Suzuki Samuri will out wheel a 200. But neither one is a 'troop carrier', so apples to oranges.

If it wasn't such a PITA to fit bigger tires on this beast, I agree it would be fun to SAS the front and see what you could do. But sure would screw up that ultra nice ride.

My $0.02.

We're comparing apples to apples here size, wheelbase, etc-wise. 4-door Rubicon Unlimited (not the SWB LJ). Plenty of space, and nothing more capable can be purchased today.

So you spent $76k on your 100 series according to you. You can buy a used 200 for around $55K drop another $20K for an SAS and mods and make yours look like a mall crawler for less. Look at what SLEE did to their 100 series. They did not butcher the body and still got bigger tires. If they did a SAS on a 200 LC, 99.9% of mud members would want it. I do believe you would be the .1% that wouldn't. If by seeing their work does not convince you, I do not know what would. I'm out:bang:

That's a beat 100! An old cheap used 100 he used for a SAS project. I'd a been nuts to ruin my new 100 back in 2001 IF such a mod was possible then. Get real! You can't compare Slee's 100 to SAS's a new 200-Series.

Nice try but give us all a break! Enough insanity!

Sure! Taking an old whatever and doing a mod to ruin it's ride and body (SAS) makes more sense though with a 200-series you get less for your wheeling dollar. Wheel wells are too small, body too big...seems like a waste for even an old one.

Taco's a whole different story!

Um
If memory serves me right, wheel wells have had some trimming for ANY cruiser since the 40 series.
I can think of at least one build in each series that's had wheel wells trimmed.

So, sure, the wheel wells are small on the 200, it's meant to hug the tires and look good in town, but if we all left things as Mr. Toyoda intended, well, 'Mud wouldn't exist.

^ seriously.
you'd also get a killer tow rig out of it, too.

Sweet, do you have a build thread on that?
