If memory serves me right, wheel wells have had some trimming for ANY cruiser since the 40 series.
I can think of at least one build in each series that's had wheel wells trimmed.

So, sure, the wheel wells are small on the 200, it's meant to hug the tires and look good in town, but if we all left things as Mr. Toyoda intended, well, 'Mud wouldn't exist.

35s fit on the 80 and 100 with normal lifts and without trimming. Not so on the 200. Sorry.

It's worth saying that I don't advocate the expectation that the 200 should replace the 80 or even the 60 offroad, but minor bodywork is the most weak-kneed excuse not to mod something.

Toyota has nothing new to compare to the 4-door Wrangler. On top of that the 80-series cannot equal it either. Face it...Wrangler is KING!

I agree with John on that one. We are talking about completely different vehicles. As a former owner of a built TJ I can say that for serious off road it was far superior. My 100 series and even more so a 200 series is far superior for long distance comfort and capacity. SAS on either series is not only unnecessary, I feel it would defeat the point of the truck. I wish I had SAS about 0.5% of the time. If someone wants to do It because they can more power to them. It's been done to a 100 and it will be done to a 200. I think for the vast majority of owners it serves no advantage. We would rather spend our money on an older vintage.
 
^ x2, but in addition having owned a built TJ, I currently own an '08 4 door JK that has seen a lot of the AEV catalog and am getting ready to build my 100. They are / will be used for completely different purposes with the 100 series seeing a lot more long distance trips and the JK seeing harder use. Besides, what parts to I want to break more, relatively prevalent and cheap Heep parts or expensive parts from Mr. T? Hopefully the mods won't kick me outta here now that I have admitted to owning a Heep :o
 
Toyota IFS is pretty good stuff, no matter how you slice it.
I think the most vocal proponents of SAS are quite often either too hardcore for their own good, or just incapable.

That said, if someone wants to burn a mound of their cash on something dumb, like mangling their truck, I won't get in their way.
For that kind of cash, building a 12HT FJ60 would be a much more practical means of attaining a beam axle truck with some nice power.

Now, on the other hand, verbally accosting people for bouncing ideas around instead of gently maintaining a sense of reality is pretty low.
 
If I had unlimited funds I'd own a 200 series for long distance travel and a 2004-2005 Unlimited with an AEV hemi conversion for heavy wheeling.

Ok I lied. If I truly had unlimited funds I'd buy an Icon for my heavy wheeling.
 
If I had unlimited funds, I'd just build up The Mule as best as I possibly could, and build me up a Ford go fast car on the side. Or a De-Mopared Dodge Monaco with a Ford drivetrain.
