I have been told by 2 Lexus dealerships that if your dash isn't cracked by May 31, they will not replace it

If you have an original dash it isnt hard to encourage certain behaviors ;)

I went to my dealer a week or two ago for the airbag recall and had them look at my dash. It has no cracks yet but they are going to do the replacement because it's sticky. It's not very sticky, but it's definitely a different texture than the material on the doors. I also noticed that it's stickier when it's hot, so I would recommend not cleaning your dash for a while so that it looks kind of crummy and then bring it in and tell them that when it's hot it's really sticky.

I wonder if the recall extends to Canada... my dash doesnt look like it has any issues, only thing Ive noticed is certain areas have a matte finish vs others with more gloss. Hopefully thats not the start. Besides a crack and stickyness, anything to look out for?

Hey Sam, I bought an '08 about a month ago. Wasn't aware of the dash crash problem until I came across this thread. My dash doesn't have any cracks or shiny spots. It does have some slight, and I mean slight, indents around the passenger side airbag. There's nothing on my Lexus history regarding a dash replacement. I have a 3yr/36k Lexus platinum warranty that came with the car. Should I contact my Lexus dealer and ask about the dash recall?

Wouldn't hurt. On the Toyota side it's only 03-05 4Runner that is affected. I have an 08 and it has no dash issues at 130k.

Just want to make sure I'm reading this Warranty Enhancement letter correctly (borrowed the letter pic from clublexus). I have a 2008 GX that was first used on 6/12/2008 according to the Lexus driver's service history. Per the letter below I believe I am covered through 6/2018 via the Secondary Coverage. Am I reading that correctly?

Just take it in... Especially if you have cracks

I just called the dealer and scheduled an appointment to have mine replaced. Im sure they will have to order it but at least ill be on the waiting list. Just picked up my GX and the dash looks like Shiz so its perfect. And will get the airbag recall done at the same time.

That's the problem, it doesnt have cracks, or at least I haven't seen any obvious ones.
They are replacing them if they are cracked OR sticky/Soft texture. Im sure if you looked hard enough you WILL find a crack SOMEWHERE ;)

Sorry to zombie thread this but I've added GX470s to my searching since selling my 100. There's a local one, 2005 no nav (has a Pioneer double din in it) with 150K on it, timing belt and services done, looks like it's solid from the photos but the dash is very cracked. They're asking $10K which seems a tad high? But more to the point, is the dash cracking issue something I could have taken care of under the recall if I grab it?

I think the recall expired April 30th

Ah bummer. Thanks for the heads up.

Is call lexus and double check though. Or just call with your vin and see if you can get added to the waiting list (theres a few month wait before you'll actually get a new dash)

The dash recall is good until May 31 according to the letter they sent out. That price seems ok, I've never seen one listed for under $10k around here.

Ah, may 31st. Thats good. Aprry for the error but now you know :)

I'd offer $9k and see where that goes. I bought my wife one the first week of April. Took it in 2 days later for the airbag recall, took it back in two weeks later and they put a brand new dash in it. The extended warranty is good until May 31st, very clearly stated in the letter.

Took mine in today, dash was a little sticky but no soft spots or cracks. They ordered a new one for me. Pleasantly surprised.
