Yep, put the vents lower and the stereo up high with room for a 10" screen where you can see it without fully looking away from the road. The only thing I would even consider changing on my fzj dash would be a bigger opening to accommodate a large tablet or stereo with a big monitor.
But I would have to think hard and do a lot of homework before committing.
And also maybe some kind of a secret James bind stash hole for handguns and other fun items![]()

Yeah I always thought those were cool-looking. Lotta real estate though. Maybe a digital version where you can switch displays and that's one of them...I know that this is available as an option up in the overhead console if you also go with an aux tank, but I wish that the original 80's came with the inclinometer/altimeter/compass that the upper trim 4runners of the 80's and then the later FJ Cruisers came with (and the Tercel 4wd...haha). I have toyed with retrofitting one on mine, because I think they are cool looking.

Let me ask the owner"Haltech Digital Dash can have all of your gauges in one screen."
Then why do you have the A pillar pods?![]()
Nice work. I can definitely see the utility, but I really prefer analog gauges for my primary concerns.I'm doing a TSdash install on my truck now with a 12.3" display, rpi4, and megasquirt 3 for the sensors. The dash layout isn't what I will use but the display fit pretty well in the stock opening. You can do it cheaper than the haltech setup but it is a lot of work.

Normally I would agree but for this case, I didn't want extra physical gauges mounted in/on the dash/console for my widebands and extra temp gauges stuck on the dash so I went digital to replace the stock setup and have it all integrated.Nice work. Totally get it... It's really more of an aesthetic thing than any practical objection. I definitely appreciate having access to secondary gauges even if it's only via my phone.Normally I would agree but for this case, I didn't want extra physical gauges mounted in/on the dash/console for my widebands and extra temp gauges stuck on the dash so I went digital to replace the stock setup and have it all integrated.

Fuel controller and i/o expander. I am using it to trigger and control some aux functions. TS dash lets you use the rpi gpio to add other inputs to the ecu for things like indicators and switches/buttons. I have an aem anynet can module for some more inputs for things like transmission temps/pressures, oil temps/pressures, and gear position. I am also doing flex fuel and coolant pressure as additional fields.Totally get it... It's really more of an aesthetic thing than any practical objection. Are you using Megasquirt as your primary ECU, as a piggyback, or just as an interface for gauges?
