I'm curious how many folks drive their hundys as a daily driver, or if not for the commute, multiple times a week. A long time ago I used to drive Mercedes Benzs for my commute to work, racking up huge miles. The white coated head technician at the dealership was very happy. He believed that was what these cars were designed to do - use them hard and often. Sitting around in the garage as a Sunday car hurt them more than the miles. I firmly believe this to be true with my Land Cruisers as well. The more I drive them the better they do. Let them sit and they start having issues. While I don't often commute in my 100 any more (doesn't fit in my parking garage at work) I do drive it every day.

Maybe this why, after over 300k miles, I've had zero non-maintenance issues beyond regular replacement of the starter.

Thoughts?

Yep. Every day. My 98 takes me & my son 15+ miles one way to school and work. I love driving it, my only gripe is of course the gas mileage.

Ours is driven daily by my wife or I. Anytime the kids travel, it's in the LX. I think we'll have this 100 or a replacement 100 as long as they will run.

70 mile commute on 35's. It's my DD, wheeler, utility truck, family mobile, etc.

Besides the gas consumption, it's a perfect DD for a person needing seating for 5, lots of cargo room, and one classy SUV.

Daily driven here also by me or my wife. When she drives her 'weekend car' I will drive the land cruiser. It's nice to take a break from my regular daily driver, which is much smaller and rides a little more rough.

As a daily driver, I don't need one vehicle, let alone two.

I try to give it a good run at least once a week, but that doesn't always happen. Bought strictly as a road trip machine. My philosophy is that if I'm not going to drive it at least 15-20 highway miles its better to leave it parked.

Use mine for family road trips only. Have owned since last February and only put 4900 miles on it (with about half of that being one trip to Colorado). With where we live, every time I drive it, it gets run at least 120 miles. That's one round trip to the nearest decent sized town, but also makes it to San Antonio occasionally for the Alamo City Land Cruisers meeting (that's at least a 200 mile round trip).

My 99 is the daily, road trip, and business travel vehicle. I put on 17k miles in 2013, but will likely reach 25K this year due to more business travel. I get paid mileage, which is the PM and mods fund :)

My 2001 LX is my DD. About 30 miles a day, five days a week at least. I got it with around 100K on it. It now has over 128K. Haven't done anything other than change the oil and put gas in it maintenance wise. But I am hearing a nagging brake squeak, and a little "clunk" from the front end on the left side. I don't think I have ever been more happy with a vehicle purchase in my life! Minus the fact that I can't go over 250 miles on a tank of gas, this thing is great!!!!

I rotate between two cars for DD duties depending on what I need that day - viagra or valium. The Hundy is my valium for those days I need to unwind. P-car for when i want some excitement.

Then there's the wife's vanilla which is also my personal carbon offset, Rav4 EV.

I just bought a 2006 with only 26k miles on it. Little old lady owned it and rarely drove. Camry is my daily driver. So I hope that's not true.

Every day ~20 miles round trip.
Except in the summers when the weather is nice, the '88 SAAB 900 Convertible comes out of the garage for a spin.

Nick, are you only one of the few who daily drive on 35's?

Ours is a fun truck, travel truck, and dog truck at this point. Was my wifes DD for a couple years and is now relegated to fun and adventure which was our plan from the get go. I will commute with it on occasion if I'm testing something out, working on one of the other cars, or just need seat heaters.

In 2013 the 100 did more miles than my DD so I guess we had a lot of fun in 2013. It saw Canada, 100's in the Hills, some flood response work, some hunting, some camping, some hiking, some wheeling etc.

It still needs a Baja trip and an AK trip so I'm not done yet!

Daily driver/tow vehicle/road tripper/expedition wagon/bike carrier/etc. True all-purpose vehicle since new.

One 'stranding' since new when the heater tee let go. Happened to be in a town with an old school hardware that provided the brass plumbing fittings to construct the biggest composite tee you've ever seen. Its still there after several years, but parts are on the way to put things back to stock in that area.
