Cut chassis!!!?

This would have to be the most dumb thing I have ever seen done to a troopy. Who ever it was has some marbles missing for sure.

Should I weld it back up and reinforce with another sleeve?
Should I pay a pro and get an engineer certificate?

That looks like it cracked might have been hit a few times head on or yancked out of a mudpit a few times in order to get that kind of damage.

You can cut the complete bar out and insert a new one

Do you guys in the States have insurance regulations about welding chassis?
Admittedly it would be easy access and could almost make like ninja never could tell.
Also, if I do pull the motor, it would be very easy without the bar in the way.

So been looking into auto chassis steel, usually carbon steel. 54mm pipe is not very common.

Can't find any mention of chassis components on amayama epc either.

Is there any link where you got your oem chassis part please?

The chassis measurements are the same as what is in the manual specs. So that is good. It looks doable.

It is very neat, why I thought some knob cut it. First impression.

I get the idea that toyota has better after market service for older cars in the States. The only things worthwhile getting at my local toyota is bulk brake fluid and the odd fuse link..If I say 1985 hj75 they would most likely say they do not stock it and cannot get it. Rocket science or not. I'll shall give them a go regardless...

Yeah, probably just grind /cut, re-weld it and then brace it. Thanks felllas.

Depends on the dealership. Some of them have landcruiser nuts working there and they put extra effort into it. And this particular part was in service until 2007? or so.
You can also buy that kind of stuff from wreckers but they will leave big chunks of chassis connected that you will have to grind off yourself.

2007! now that gives a nod there is a chance from toyota. Yeah, normally I would be frequenting the wreckers but 5km lockdown in melbourne makes it hard to get things, go places..

I would use the closest size available from a steel yards. This is the part number

51201-60101

Thanks Rosco, that is the number I need. I don't think anyone in Melbourne or Sydney shall be travelling far for a while..wreckers are over 5km from me.

Looks like a very simple weld repair. No doubt it's been driving around for while like that.
Did you get your diff housing straightened?
