My interior was trashed when I bought the vehicle. I had to go completely custom, but I tried to match the "spirit" of the original interior. A few things you can see in the pictures:
  • Seats and door cards re-covered in leather, attempting to match the patters of the original cloth. They even covered the shift knob and the steering wheel. Also new headliner and ew carpet (they used glue-down carpet that looks nice, but I do not expect it to hold up like the original). I had this all done while living overseas, so it was much cheaper than if I had it done in the US I'm sure.
  • NOS OEM dash pad. This was a splurge, but made a huge difference in the "new" feeling of the interior.
  • I replaced the center console with a Tuffy Box. And I know it is probably heresy, but I compromised the security aspect of the Tuffy by cutting a hole to mount a switch plate for my exterior LED switches and USB chargers. I mounted it on top of the heater using the existing brackets, and added an additional Tuffy cupholder on the back.
I'm really happy with the way it turned out! (And my apologies for the pics, she needs a good vacuuming!)

I modified the Cool Cruisers version to mount my CB inside and put the speaker on the face. Put in a LED on a micro switch (lid opens light goes on). Placed the mic holder on the side. Installed power inside

Sat in a newer ford vehicle last weekend. Massage setting on the front seats with heat or a/c built right into the seat. If I ever figure out that modification, it will be in my truck.

I have cooled seats in the LS DD. It is a luxury I never new existed until a few months ago. Out here in summer it is a god send. Not that we need to add more expense, complexity or weight to these rigs but it would be fantastic in a 60.

I added a above head center console in my last 60. I liked the idea of the extra lights in the front and the storage spots and am going to look into doing this again but use one of the drop downs for my switches.

Has anyone built a totally custom fiberglass headliner? I have contemplated doing so instead of replacing the fabric one. Lights, storage, etc would be kind handy. Thought about a sunroof too, but would be pointless if I go with a full roof rack.

Yeah I wouldn't want that in a 60, but it's pretty cool in that van.

All I can say is "thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote of thy brothers eye". Thank you Jesus! That wooden slat roof is past the boundary of totally cool in a vintage Wagon...and I do mean a Land Cruiser Wagon. Birds Eye Maple with a Heywood Wakefield golden wheat or champagne blond wash would put the voluminous cavern of the Cruiser over the top in a very unique and one-of-a-kind way.

pics or it never happened

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little...:flipoff2:
I'm just not a big fan of all the wood like that in a truck; wood panel sides are even worse! There are some vehicles it just fits, but just not on a cruiser imo.

If you ever find the massage A/C chairs in a JY, snag a few inches of pigtail with them so you can connect the wiring, fabricate mounts, and bolt them in.

Ok! Time to rest my post back from ALL the ideas about sporting wood—— I have playing with “infrastructure” installations (like a Double DIN radio/GPS/Cameras (Yes multiple cameras)/ Apple & Android CarPlay, a trio of gauges for the turbo, and integrating the National Luna duel battery meter and a new Water Meth injection controller).
So- speaking of some degree of hypocrisy , I am thinking a bout changing to a gray interior something like ICON’s Reformer FJ62 (see attached pic). I have gotten samples to match up color combos and contract pieces including the Chiliwhich accent fabric for the seat center and doors panels

I am also thinking about putting a 62 dash in to better integrate the Double Din radio and the digital clock. Or keep the 60 dash color change and scan/3D print the radio and triple gage area to make a truly custom look. I AM SURE that all thee mudites shal illicite some great commentary on these potential directions

I hate when this truck makes me do things (why its called antichrist, I guess). I have decide to do a color change and the 62 dash conversion. Found an new OEM dash pad and gauge plate and I’ll paint the lower dash piece a lighter gray

I landed on the leather and accent materials for the seats and the door panels.

The good thing is that I have figured out the source of the voices in my head - my FJ60. Apparently it has neeeds.
