What does Proffitt's use for a bed liner material? I have used UPol in the past with good results and that is what I will be covering my bed with. Is yours gray in color or is that just the light?

Take lots of pictures as I will use any and all information for my build. Where I am using a 62 series frame I will have a bit more custom fabrication to do, like new body mounts, FJ40 style rear tank (62 series sits above the frame and would contact the bed, extending the frame, etc...

Did you remove those "step" things from the front of the bed? I don't see them in the picture of your lined bed? What are their purpose anyway? To me they seem to detract from the overall lines of the bed. I haven't looked on mine, are they bolted on or would you have to cut them off?

They have a subcontractor bedliner guy that travels and comes and does a bunch of truck all at once. I don't remember the brand, it's an off brand but similar to the big name professionally applied brands and Proffitt's has had very nice results with it.

Yes that is a medium dark charcoal gray.

I am Michigan and the truck is in Colorado at the shop, so I am at their mercy for photos; I ask for more almost every day though. :)

Don't know about the steps - you'll have to look at yours I guess, it's closer to you than mine is to me. ;)

I just went out and looked and those side steps, if that is what they are called and used for, and saw they are bolted on with 4 bolts. Does anyone know what Toyota designed these for? I am leaning towards removing mine as I think the line of the bed flows better without them. Yooper, yours appear to be off the truck in the bedliner photo.

Yoop-

did you get the Canadian frame from a junk yard up there...or how did you find that?

2nd were there no issues about bringing it back across the border b/c it was not an entire vehicle?

great project wish i had the finances to do one myself.....

Proffitt's found the Canadian mine trucks, I don't know details of specifically where.

I don't think there is much issue in bringing a frame across the border, but there were issues in bringing back the 1HZs from mine trucks because they were never certified for use onroad in any country.

I use to send 1hz across for farm use, never a issue.

Looking good still, that mustard colour was my favourite after restoring that rig. Still storing over the winter in a dry spot?

Hyjack over...

This winter I will driving it in the snow (and salt  ) for the first time, waiting for my pickup to arrive. (my daughter is driving my 100) I was hoping to have it by now (we started the process in March) - the border delay was over two months, really slowing things down.

Do you still have any mustard paint? Or can you tell me the codes? I need to do some touch up and I want to paint the inside of the hood...

They are side steps and are used to get in and out of the bed from the side. I thought they kind of looked stupid myself until I used them. They are very handy to have there if you need to step into the bed for any reason. You just hold onto the headache rack and step up in. Much better than accessing through the tailgate.

The EPA is really cracking down on diesels coming that are not approved here in the States. "Farm use" does not fly so easily now....especially when you bring in multiple engines.

Sean: Glad you are enjoying the pictures and your build thread. I will try and get you some more pictures as we progress. There won't be much progress until we get your frame back from galvinizing. Then it is GO time.

so is this strictly for longer wheelbase vehicles??? ie. Could strap it onto the frame of a parts BJ70 I've got?

don't know, decided to go Turbo Glide and didn't look back...

it's a good kit .. thought turbo glide, and AXT ( only with direct experience ) are good kits ..

Request formore pics please :D

Ooh just got some.

Blasting the dirt from inside my frame just before sending it to be sandblasted, hot dip galvanized, and powder coated. Note sliders and rear quarter panel protection. Bumper design still in progress. That is my cab too.

Underside of cab treated with bedliner for ultimate corrosion resistance.
