Cup Holders?

how is the cup holder attached for the non console variant? velcro?

I have not figured that out yet. I need to get fitment perfected before I focus on attachment. Right now it will come with one to two holes to use a couple self tapers. I may also do strips of Velcro. I just need to find out if all 70s got carpet. If some had rubberized floors or just metal floors then Velcro may not be the best option. I will get it figured out soon.

would be a possibility to have two screws to attach it from the inside of the console box?
that might stabilise it on a left-right direction?

Ill look at my truck to see if I can find any options that dont require drilling metal.

Base models came with vinyl mats and from LX up carpet.

I ordered some neodymium magnets. I already have a magnetic tray for holding nuts and screws sitting on that hump.

So prototype 3.0 of the floor design was just test fit by CDan out in Salt Lake. He told me fitment is way better. He's going to get me some pics soon and I will get them posted up for you guys. I will get any last little changes made and then focus on figuring out the best option for attachment.

I sent Brad a couple cell phone pics with a 1x2 wood spacer block and he turned that sow's ear into a silk purse. I need a bit of spare time to confirm angles and proposed attachment point(s). The ball is in my court so please leave the lad alone whilst I CONFIGURE OUT the next step.

So Dan installed the cup holder in a few 70's today. Remember this is a prototype so finish and paint are not something I am putting much effort into yet. Looks like it matches the carpet interiors contours perfectly but doesn't sit level. I had to rotate the entire top section about 5 degrees. The new version (printing now) should sit perfectly level. On the rubber floor 70's there is a button on the floor that is causing the cup holder to not sit down flush. I have notched the new design to slide right over the button. Hopefully this newest version will account for all the little details of the carpeted and rubber floor 70's. I also found out that the 70s with the front bench will not work with this design. Once I finish this design and get both up on my website, I will focus my attention on coming up with something for the folks that have a front bench.

2-that means LHD will have a mirror variant of this ?
3-is there enough "meat" at the base of the holder so one could carve a pocket and install magnets?

1. There are two pics above. Is my link not working?
2. The console mounted model is reversible. It can be flipped and mounted on the LHD or RHD console. The floor model is totally symmetrical side to side. It will sit on the floor of either RHD or LHD exactly the same.
3. 3D printed parts are not solid. They have a honeycomb fill with a plastic shell. If you cut into the walls of the part you will run into the honeycomb and damage it's integrity. If you want a specific recessed area for magnets just get me the exact dimensions and I can add that in .

I'll take a shot from above of version 2. Bear in mind it is a prototype and as such the finish and exact fit are not there yet. Here is a view from the right side.

Top view RHD truck. I positioned it roughly centered on the rear console It could be moved further to the left (for RHD) if so inclined. Constraints for lateral movement are parking brake access and passenger seat slide clearance.

The construction presents as quite robust and I am excited to receive V3 to do final fitment testing.

Black looks good in the grey truck and would be fine if Brad is not able to get a grey that pleases him. Custom color finishes effectively double the cost and we all know how cheap we can be........

Here it is in a RHD automatic. It needs to shift left of center to clear the front surround but there is still ample room for seat slide. The cup is a 16 ounce Contigo travel mug
