If it is a HX35 here's some info: http://www.holset.co.uk/files/2_1_1_3-Holset HX35.php There is a turbo thread on 4btswaps and some think this is the perfect turbo for the 4bt, but it never came standard on one.

It could be bigger like a HX40 but I don't know if those ever came without a wastegate.

I don't have either one here, they're both in Portland. How would you tell, the engine in the cruiser is off a 92 and the other is a 94?

The best way would be to look on that tag and get the numbers. It should tell you the model. Mine didn't so I had to google the only number I had to figure it out. I'm just going off of looks and what was available from the factory.

The one off the 94 pictured above is the HX35w. The other is a H1C? serial number c0245324. I'll probably end up using the HX35 as its setup to run an intercooler low and be able to clear the hood better.

We got the drivelines back today! I'll post some pics soon as I get them!

Drivelines Back and installed!

The front flexed close to the oil pan so Tim "massaged" it a bit now no issues! So close now!

LOok at that Flex! Even better with 35s to come!

Tim I'm curious about this too.. I have heard this too about WVO.. But some o the guys I know with the "better" kits (Frybrid, etc) usually attribute it to poor heat of the oil before its burned.. Is that hogwash?
I'm guilty of that curiosity too. I was thinking of putting a greasecar system in my hj60. If you are really careful to filter the H20 out of the WVO, will it still crap up the engine?

I don't think the h20 is the biggest issue as apposed to heat of the fuel. There is a water separator on the racor filter setup and if you are careful in filtering that shouldn't be a problem, but the heat of the fuel needs to be above 70 F at the least, ideally 140 F. Where you run into problems, is the oil is too viscous and causes improper spray patterns, and is not fully combusted resulting in gunk on the injectors and walls. simple solution make sure your oil is always up to temp before switching the tanks.

FJ 60 Cummins

Good luck with your conversion. I did the sam 6-7 years ago and still use the FJ60 as an every day driver, If you need any pictures of how I did things let me know. One thing is the stock motor mounts tear often so I replaced them with the new style doughnut type off 2000+ Dodge.

Were just now getting to the exhaust, can you post or email pictures of that? Did you have to notch the firewall or fab it in anyway to get the downpipe right? We're looking at a 3" pipe, think thats enough? Any info/pics on that would be sweet! Did you use the NV4500 as well? Hows your mpg?

ATS exhaust manifold is in, Turbo from the 94 dodge: Hx35W
The intercooler from the volvo is too tall to fit, so were going to run the pipe and find one later. Don't think it will matter much for the winter anyway.

Rancho in-cab adjuster mounted and lined.
We flipped the shocks around so we didn't have to run the lines all the way down lest they snap on something but rancho said they're directional so tghey may lose some stiffness, but we won't know how much till we get her on the road, and the trail!
you can see them right behind the steering wheel.

No, it isn't hogwash, the premium quality two tank systems (Frybrid being the best, by far) will heat the WVO/SVO sufficiently to achieve complete combustion, at least in warmer weather. As with ANY system, the oil must be dewatered either passively or mechanically in via the fuel filter/dewaterer.

The single most critical component in any diesel in regard to using a fuel with significantly higher viscosity than petrol diesel is the injection pump. Long before you get coking on the lands and grooves of the cylinders you will have injection pump failure if you do not adequately thin the fuel out via heating or transesterification, which is why Suburbans running single tank or cheap inferior two tank systems are failing all over the country. I wouldn't worry about coking on the injector tips pe se (unless the motor was direct injected), as that can be disolved with treatments and will not really cause premature engine wear, but it would be a symptom that the fuel isn't being burned well enough and is good evidence that other coking is happening as well.

The 4 and 5-cylinder W123 Mercedez Benzes are pretty much all going strong on WVO/SVO with no conversion or inferior systems because that injector was overbuilt and can handle 90 weight if they had to.

That being said, I will on rare occasion pour SVO directly into my tank (no conversion) if I am about to run out of fuel in my HJ60. But only when the engine is nice and hot. Otherwise is is nothing but B100 for me. With the 6bt, that's what I would recommend too, as the first choice in fuel.

Off to the Exhaust Shop

Tim made a new turbo exhaust flange, one that the exhuast guys can fit a tighter down turn pipe to.

Can't wait to hear how that thing sounds. How much power does that year 6bt put out? I am pretty sure that the 94 rams came with rotary pump 6bt's as opposed to the inline pump ones.

Either way, can't wait to see this thing moving under it's own power!!

All I can say for now is its on hold, had an accident with a semi and a bunch repairs needed, they're getting fixed...

Heres some pics of the last few days at LCS and the grease system...which is fully installed and opperable.

I don't have pics of the tank or the finished product, maybe next week. Theres a rollover valve installed in the downpipe for the grease tank which is pretty sweet!

More later..

Sorry to hear about the accident. I might be doing the same conversion on a fj60, or I`m going to be using the 4bt in the fj60. Thanks for the updates, it looks like it would be a blast to drive.
