Put my newer RTM on and relegated the worn one to the tray. The gave it it's first tub in about a decade! Might be getting my hands on a rad this afternoon. If so, tomorrow after fitment and proper timing it's drive time..

Woke early this morning and got to work. Fitted the brand-new-in-2001 rad [that I got for a smashing deal!]. Popped two head bolts and installed the air cleaner bracket using my old Chinese torque wrench that I wasn't even sure worked [which is fitting, as this type of backyardery was the way this build began - and therefore end]. Tightened exhaust manifold studs to chase a small leak. Brought the flywheel mark in line with the bell housing needle and set the rotor button to #1 then hit the key to burp the cooling system and final timing adjustment. My torque wrench worked like a champ! No leaking head. No leaks from the rad. Backed the idle screw all the way out and reset the mixture screw to 1.5 turns off bottom [as per Shane's advice from the Aust 40 Series Landcruisers FB page and engine swap shed] and BAM - it runs like a top! No high idle to compensate for poor timing. Good oil pressure. Just need to get my damn temp sender and then I can go for a proper drive!
