Guard cut back. Tub cut back. Cowl vent sealed and painted. Cowl vent hoses fitted. Firewall painted, engine side. Bib and aprons blocked back. Donor dash in bare metal. Dash cut planned and marked.

Into it son!

Treated, painted and cavity wax sprayed the underside of the cab - forgot to seam seal!! D'OH!! Cowl seams sealed and painted. Vertical body seams sealed and painted. Cowl vent drain hose system replanned. Seat belts cleaned. Heater box deleted - hole filled. Donor dash in etch primer - surgery tomorrow. Mirror arms painted. Garage fully swept, rearranged and cleaned. Driveway hosed down


Pax side heater hose solution is getting re-designed..

Mmmmm, naked dash..

Clean, solid pax side underbody.

D/S same.

This is how you avoid paying for expensive formed pipe.

Heater system deleted.

To remove the steering box, do you just undo this collar and slide the shaft out?

Looks ugly, but won't rust.

Three soaks in washing detergent and a scrub equals barn-find worthy seat belts

Thanks mate. I figured water is gonna seep past any plate you whack in there to delete it. I had the sikaflex, had the heater hose, had the hose clamp. 10 mins and I was done, other than the rust particles that found its way into my nice new sikaflex haha. And instead of buying and waiting for formed hose from Racer 65, which is probably worth it but is just another cost and delay, I'm gonna add a brass tee to the current DS drain pipe and plumb the pax side one into it so they both drain out the one hole.

Went down to see Shane from the Australian 40 Series Landcruisers Facebook page yesterday. He's got a shed about 5 mins from me with a torch and power and a bunch of tools and a few spares kickin' around. This is the place where I did the first F swap and the broken axle repair. And now the dash surgery. Ran out of time for pics of the result but got it all blazed in. My oxy welding came back strong. But I still have a lot to learn about the behaviour of metal under heat and there was some warping I didn't expect. Heated him up, gave him a tap and whammo - all good. Ground down the welds and will now fill, prime and paint. But ribs are in! Whilst I was there Shane had lent his shed/forklift/engine crane/tools/etc to a young fella called Jansen and his mates who were doing a 2H to 12H-T engine swap in a HJ47. They came unstuck a few times so I wandered over and gave 'em a hand.

If anyone ever goes to ID this cab they're gonna be like 'whaaaaatttt???' - curved firewall brace as per 1974 but ribbed dash stopped in 1971 haha.

Whilst I was away, my housemate Michael cleared my guards, aprons, bib, bezel, grille, badges and mirror arms! I thought it was going to be in satin. Instead it's in high gloss, crazy high gloss actually - but at least it will be protected. Far out those suckers pop!

Yeah bought a v6 Vu ute off a local bloke but am looking for a vu ss ute soon. Won't be buying another Landcruiser until I have a shed to lock it in so no one steals it

Got up early. Pulled down and cleaned apron indicators. Made new gaskets that made the unit sit flush on the surface of the apron, as opposed to the stock ones that make it sit proud on the leading edge. Polished aluminium surround. Fitted up.

Fitted headlights to bib. Turns out the best bezel spacer is a piece of hardened old unused fuel line cut to length and slid over the retaining bolts.

Did a little panel work between work today. Thought I'd fix some imperfections left there by the PO Not many pics, but got one of the dash in.

Also saw this out and about. I'm not one for the white rims, but I dig what he was trying to do. Oh, and apparently there's a 20 y.o Toyota apprentice mechanic getting around in a HJ47 that's about to do her own 60 series power steer conversion in our fair town. And she rides dirt bikes

Bought my bonnet clips off the owner, and I've seen it parked and driving around Paddington. Its a tidy looking rig.
