The web site made it sound like it was organized LOL contest and prizes. No matter you got the ol girl out on the road and met up with some very cool people. Top notch Mate. Great pics

Awww thanks Rob T! Those girls are just a bag of fun. Good humoured, no ego. They fly. Next time mate - you'll be here.

This is how you 40 in Australia. You know for a joint named Landcruiser Mountain Park and an event run by a bloke who's run Cruisers his whole life there sure were a lot of Nissans.

Gotta air down. Florida gal Crysten left; then Tim [owner of the ugly 45 that nobody gets jealous of, ever]; Marc, Crysten's partner's dad [kneeling in the back] and yours truly. Do I pass for a yank yet? Gonna need to in a matter of months. Crysten says my accent is 'pretty good' haha.

Cult,
What part of the states will you be visiting?
City of Angels mate, and will be a permanent visit. But I'll be damned if I'm gonna miss out on all the other places to see. Gonna have to visit the deep south, the north-east and -west, got mates in Canada and gonna go down to Me-hee-co. But first: gotta get working.

Why do I get the feeling you're hitting me up for parts..? :D

No sir, no parts. When you visit the Deep South maybe we can hook up. I would enjoy meeting you in person. There is a lot to see and do in Huntsville Al. Huntsville is a very unique southern city.

Yep. You bring the 45, I'll bring the gas and we'll go up for a visit to whitey. And then JohnnyC in NY. And then back down to jadcruiser.

Sounds good with the V8 mate nice work.
Thanks payney!

Well in true cult45 style there was a stumbling block. By the time this truck is done I will have replaced everything haha. I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Been talking this out with some blokes in the know - but only kind of in the know. What could cause this? The new engine isn't exactly a Roush motor. It's only a 20% increase in power and a tiny increase in torque:

F and F.5 ~ 105 bhp/189 ft.lbs and an F.5 125 bhp/209 ft.lbs
Holden 253 V8 ~ 150 bhp and 215 ft.lbs brand new

I ain't been caning it. Gave it the berries a few times but only once already in motion. I don't think it would even pull a skid from a stand still.

The current consensus is that either the axle was faulty, aged or the one weak link I didn't attend to [rear axle overhaul] failed, ie. bearings. But there was no squeal or excessive drag on the rear end? I guess I'l find out this morning.

Going to source an axle or two today and will throw it all in tomorrow when the speed shop opens :D

I was wondering how an OZ 45 ended up with a semi float rear axle. It probably had been over loaded by a PO at some point and cracked. You were just the lucky bloke there at the end!

Actually most of our pre-1979 trucks had a SF rear. Just everyone swaps 'em out for a FF. I have no idea why..
