OK guys and gals, I am headed back to the promise land next weekend. I am sure it's not enough notice for most but I wanted to at least throw it out there in the case someone could join us.

Same agenda - climb Moses and camp at the bald Friday night. Head down early Sat and do some fishing in the Tuck (yes, it is legal then :D).

Head out late afternoon across 281 and into the Mills River community for more camping and then trout slay day on Sunday. :grinpimp:

Hanging with Alex on Saturday down by the 2nd camp made me realize I've been neglecting a past time that has helped me to become who I am (along with my brother riding me incessantly)...

I hope someone / everyone can make it. That place is truly magical to me. :cheers:

man. wish i could but @ $50 in gas and back 2 back weekends I cant. + I need to spend time with the fam.
 
Anyone else thinking about joining us? Fishing / camping / wheeling to kick off the month of April...

I am headed that way in the morning :D, the snow has gotten my attention !!

SNOW SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP OVERNIGHT...FIRST AT HIGHER
ELEVATIONS OF THE SOUTHWEST MOUNTAINS OF NORTH CAROLINA THIS
EVENING...THEN FURTHER NORTH FROM LATE EVENING ON...AT THE SAME
TIME THAT SNOW LEVELS DROP BELOW 3000 FEET. SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS
OF 2 TO 4 INCHES ARE EXPECTED WITHIN THE WARNING AREA...ESPECIALLY
AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS. THE HEAVIEST SNOW SHOULD OCCUR FROM AFTER
MIDNIGHT THROUGH MID MORNING ON FRIDAY...ALTHOUGH SNOW SHOWERS
WILL LINGER ACROSS THE HIGHER TERRAIN THROUGH THE AFTERNOON.
 
Well, make sure you save enough gas for next weekend!!! ;)

haha will do, I am only going to maggie valley, I am not actually going to ride any of the trails, to risky with that much snow and cold, and me being solo...

I am looking forward to next weekend........... I think my rod and reel is packed away in one of my familys storage sheds we have had since we moved 2 years ago :(

local weather man: You won't have to travel very far "up" in elevation to find higher amounts, as higher mountaintop locations in the central and southern NC mountains will pick up 2-5 inches of snow through midday Friday.

Andy, Sounds like a great time and I know its a beautiful place. I've always loved the Western N.C. mountains..Gods Country. However my golf game is calling and it has not been used for a long time. My brother and I are planning a marathon during the next three weekends. Otherwise....

How killer would that be to wake up on the bald in the cruiser with a foot of fresh powder. Heck, you could ski all the way down the the entrance road if you had someone to drive your cruiser down.

I hear ya Alan! I went from golf addict (5-6 times a week) for a lot of years to once a month now at most. I need to get back into it, just haven't found (made) the time.

Having too much fun fishing / wheeling right now. Oh well, I've played for 25+ years so I am sure I will get back to it at some point...

Sounds like we need to do a club golf event. Maybe a captain's choice? Could be a fund raiser.
 
OK, guys. Back on track. 4 days until departure. :grinpimp:

Anyone that wants to do some fishing this weekend, we'll be in 2 different spots on Sat and Sun catching trout.

Camp at Snaggy Bald on Friday night and then Mills River Campground Saturday night.

Just got done talking to JP, it's going to be a good time as always. A little cruiser time but mostly cold water, tight fly lines, energetic trout and cold :beer:!

Come join us both (either) nights / days! :cheers:
