If votes are counted, how will the winner be determined? Absolute majority? Two-thirds majority? Is it necessary or reach a quorum for a vote to be valid? What fraction of the membership needs to vote to reach a quorum? CSC doesn't need to do any of this, but if elections are proposed, it might not be a bad thing to clarify things like that.
I'm aware of only two organizations where the bylaws forbid someone to resign his position: the Soviet Kremlin of yesteryear, and the Vatican. And even the Vatican had that rule broken recently .
So, in theory, it should be possible to resign from a CSC "position" without too much trouble. Well then. So long, and thanks for all the fish.

If there is an election, will there be a committee to oversee the process? Who will appoint said committee? Will ballots be mailed out and at what expense? Will there be a process to ensure that the ballot process remains secret? Lots of things to consider before jumping on this bandwagon.
I live three hours away and have never been to a meeting. I do, however, enjoy wheeling with a great group of folks and will continue to do so.

Michael covered it pretty well. I have never seen or heard of any bylaws for the club. I have searched on the web, but I had no luck finding any there either. So, if there are no bylaws, then who gets to make up the rules for the election, or anything else for that matter? You, me, Phil, Keven, Shannon? Having an election might be a good thing. If a club officer wants to quit, retire,resign, or be replaced in any way for any reason, that should be fairly easy. Maybe the Board of Directors needs to get together and figure all this out. Of all the fraternal, political, religeous, professional, scholastic, military, and social organizations I have been an officer of, or a member of, this one is the least formal, least structurerd, and most enjoyable for me. I hope we can move forward without too much complication.

So I guess simple majority rules. Since our club officers were either self appointed or voluntold we should be able to take Phil's offer to be in charge without a ton of drama.
As for structure, no one has asked for added formality with regard to club runs other than posting in advance unless it is a private run. Meetings should have introductions of new members and idea sharing this includes what BMAN had done in the past. I don't recall anyone thinking the meetings being too onerous in the past and Shannon wasn't butt hurt back then, at least not from a club meeting.
Our current three leaders should have a meeting on how to move forward or end this discussion.

As someone who's family came from the former Soviet Republic, there were similar discussions of voting for change but most of those people ended up being held by the KGB for extended periods of time.

The secretary should work with the president and club administration committee to organize club assemblies, whose activities include:
• Brainstorming ideas for projects and activities
• Reviewing club strengths, opportunities, and weaknesses
• Setting objectives for the club
• Coordinating committee activities such as trail clean up
• Promoting new member inclusion

Dude, he quoted my post and you are here to tell me it is not about me. Get real. There is no need to quote my post for question about election process. There are other posts that talk about election, why didn't he quote those?
