I have a 96 LX 450 that is not displaying any light when the cruise button is pushed.
This cruise control will not work at all.
It has the check engine light on for code p1780.
I checked the neutral safety switch, and the wires/clip seems in great shape.
Other than the above, the truck runs/shifts perfectly fine and has no starting issues.
It does seem to idle strangely from time to time.

I have read through all the forums regarding cruise control and the p1780 code, and it doesn't seem to add up that the truck starts fine and that the cruise control light doesn't blink or anything.

Hoping someone here can help, I am stumped!

Mine works sometimes and other times not at all. I'm not sure why that is. I would try to use it more, and see if you can at least get intermittent operation. That might help debug it. I haven't tried to figure out why mine works the way it does (could be haunted).

I had similar issue, check the brake light bulbs, mine had a single contact point bulb in it and the stock bulb has two contact points.

Or if you are using LED bulbs in your brakes...

Do you have a EWD?

I always go to mine to figure out the circuit I am toying with, and as a bonus the EWD is well drawn/layout, it's a worthwhile buy if it's not part of what you can D/L.

Pop the cover off the CC and manually actuate the mechanism.

You should clarify that you mean for him to do this while it is parked. Not on the highway!

Low brake fluid bad/broken sensor, blown fuse

I have regular bulbs in the taillights, and they seem to be fitting well and they work properly. I do have the EWD. The fuse is good, and the brake fluid is full.

If the sensor for the brake fluid is faulty, wouldn't it throw a code for the faulty sensor? The only code I am getting the P1780.

I will have to look into manually actuating the mechanism. So will this control the throttle while the vehicle is in park? If so, will that help me in determining if the mechanism or the actual remote on steering wheel is the problem?

If you look at the EWD you'll see that the NSS is connected to the cruise control ECU. So a fault in the NSS or associated wiring could easily cause a problem with the cruise control. You need to figure out what is causing the P1780 code and fix it before diving into the actuating mechanism of the CC.

And if there’s no light on the dash when switched on? Bulb should be good. I switched with a known working bulb.
