I replaced my heater T as soon as I got my LC at 231k miles. As I’m working on the brakes I noticed the metal pipe that descends from the heater t into the block appears to be leaking. My radiator level was fin but the overflow was getting low, and the radiator is only 5k miles old, so safe to assume there is a leak somewhere and this is it.

So… am I looking at a leak from the base of the pipe or do you all think it’s leaking from somewhere up by the T? When I replaced the heater T I noticed the pipe had a little wiggle in it but my mechanic seemed to think nothing of it. Granted, I was just explaining what I was feeling over the phone. Anyone else have this issue or see this type of buildup and diagnose the leak?

Wipe and clean everything, and maybe tie a small white cotton cloth around the suspected fittings and test drive (or start and let it run until hot). Be sure the cloth can't touch the manifold and catch fire. Given the two leak points, you won't know anything until you isolate the problem.

Yeah I’ve cleaned it off and I’ll recheck after I’ve ran it for awhile, was just curious if anyone had experience with this while I’ve got it all torn apart and have easier access.
