Coolant leak - can you tell what it’s from? (1 Viewer)

I know Winner Racing makes them for the 460 and 470. I found about them several years ago when I was looking for a replacement for a duramax service truck. If they can make them for diesels that shake like they do they can make them for almost anything. They show to be US made as well.

Link or phone #? I’d probably get one for the 460 down the road.

Picked up the GX from Lexus today. They installed a damaged radiator and now it sounds like they’re back ordered for a few weeks. Don’t ever assume they do the job right at the dealership. Pretty disappointing….

Very surprised and disappointed the mechanic/technician didn't see that bad of condition when taking it out of the box!
One would have to be blind not to see how out of shape and not square everything is.
I am equally surprised that with it so bent that the mounting holes still aligned.

Curious…do you normally keep the cover on over radiator and took off to inspect work? If covered many likely wouldn’t notice it was damaged until a far later date.

That is easily noticed as damaged

Is this one holding water? My wife and I install built in appliances for a major box store and especially around thanksgiving and Christmas we install damaged but working appliances to get the customer through the holidays knowing that it may be a month or more to get a replacement.
I know those guys will only install factory parts. I hope it held water amd your getting to drive your car until the new part comes in.

I'm in the process of replacing my radiator but I continue to experience issues with getting a "good" radiator. Here's my story"

  1. Ordered the first radiator from Longo Lexus. It arrived to the dealership and parts guy informed me it was damaged. They sent for a replacement.
  2. Once the radiator arrived at the Longo Lexus dealership, the same parts guy offered to have their local parts runner drive the radiator up to me (~30 miles) to avoid handling issues from UPS / Fedex. The radiator arrives and the fins are all screwed up. I reject the part and get a refund.
  3. Ordered an OEM replacement on Lexus Parts Now. Item shows up after a few days (this time double boxed). The fins were all perfect, but one of the plastic mounts was cracked. I send now for an exchange.
  4. After about 2 weeks, Lexus Parts Now informed me the item was backordered. I now opt for a full refund instead of an exchange.
  5. I place an order through Park Place Lexus for another OEM part. After placing the online order, I call the parts guy and ask them to "pay special attention to packaging". This item arrived today. Fins were mostly good, but the top of the radiator was dented inwards by about an inch.
Thinking my next step is to order one from Koyo. I have one in my miata, and the quality is fantastic. All this to say, these radiators aren't easy to replace. Mishimoto where are you?

Ordering a radiator from anywhere is a crapshoot. Shipping these causes damage frequently. It happened to a Denso I ordered from rock auto. I had the dealership source me one and I went ahead and paid the markup (though they sold it to me at their cost for my trouble). Now I have a warranty for the parts and labor. Seems worth it to me until I find an all aluminum radiator when if this one needs replacement in 5~10 years.

Yes the cover is always on. I happened to remove it to try to identify the source of the leak when I started this thread and decided there was no point to put it back on until the issue was fixed. There’s no telling how long it would’ve been until I would’ve noticed had I taken it into Lexus with the cover on. Then if I would’ve noticed it down the road, I bet Lexus wouldn’t want to accept responsibility and I’d be screwed.

What good is the cover doing other than more streamlined aesthetics when opening the hood?

Bought my 2013 without either engine cover. Still have the one that goes over the radiator (it was included in the sale.....bought the truck from a friend) but God knows how long it's been without either cover. I have not put it back on. Can't see that they do much but for aesthetics.

I think the covers add to engine noise dampening. Albeit, it doesn't seem like much and you may not hear any noticeable difference, but if one were to slowly take away each and every noise dampening feature, it would all add up.
Also, when off roading in dusty environments like were we go wheeling, it helps to keep the engine a wee bit cleaner. Referring to when you take off the covers, access to bolts, fasteners, etc. are not all mucked up with mud, dust and all.
