Spare tire integrated into the tailgate is pretty cool. Looks like the bed came from a Tundra?

MoJ,

The "bed" is the original quarters cut down. The back window is the original upper tailgate and it still swings open :o The wiper works too.

Rick, I know the guy and he was seroius when he made his comment about how well it does.

Augie, Yes, body lift. IIRC about 4 inches. (he told me but I forgot the exact number.

I just notice the lengtened wheelbase just like Artic truck. The rear axle looks to be about 1-2" behind original position.

The wheelbase is bone stock. All Alan did to the suspension/drivetrain is a modest lift (2 inch) He even retained the OEM shocks until just before Moab.

....I guess there will always be the few that jump right out of the box , and then boot it out of sight ... ;) . This man has a gift , if you ask me ... wonder if that genius would be squashed if he tried bridling it into a business venture . Each year he could dream up a direction to go ... create 2 or 3 vehicles in that vane , and then auction them off at Moab to the highest bidders ...

The moment I saw it in someones picture, I knew it was his. I actually talked to him quite a bit about it back in October...and he had quite a few ideas for it and asked for my silence. I actually was kind of surprised to hear that it still had IFS, that was one of the things he planned on swapping as he said the African model came with a solid axle. He just does this stuff as a hobby and owns a construction company to pay the bills.

Someone at Toyota needs to give that guy a consulting/design job.

I like it,
Hell I wish I could have kept my rolled 80 and turned it into the same thing. I had some idle musings on the subject but $$$ got in the way. He does some excellent work and executes some creative cruisers for sure.

Hi! I couldn't resist commenting when I was reading all that mostly good stuff about my amazing husband, Alan. You are right about him getting bored with his trucks quick and wanted to move on to the next project (thank God he doesn't feel that way about women!) We have been married for over 10 years now and I have been with him though ALL of his trucks. I will agree that this 100 did do WAY better than all of our 80's and 4-runners. We can't explain it. I have gotten into arguements with people about straight axle verses IFS, but I am a changed woman! That 100 changed my point of view. I don't expect to change yours, believe me, I understand. I encourage his creativity and hope to see more masterpieces in the future!

Susan- Your husband definitely created a masterpiece!!

Do you think he or you could post anymore picture of that moded 100? I would love to see more pics!!

Alan on escalator (I hope I did it right)

Hello Susan and welcome to the 80/100 section here on IH8MUD. I would encourage you to stick around and make this part of your daily routine as many of us do. Junk, Gumby, and Woody manage to keep this forum informative, humorous, and family-safe which many of us appreciate.

I don't think it worked, sorry

Susan,
Attached pics have to be under a certain size (80kb ? ) and don't "preview" before you post it as there is some type of glitch with that combination. You can also "Modify" your posts to add an attachment.

If you need to resize and your current software doesn't have that option, try the free utility called IrfanView. It will let you resize then Save-As before you attach it to your post.

90KB is the limit.

Susan, tell your husband to reply to my email if he gets bored with the current project ;)

Hello Susan, I hope you didn't take offense to my comment. I'm just a skeptic in general. It seemed a little odd that someone would invest that kind of time and money into a truck and then already be talking about selling it especially since it has out handled every truck that he has previously owned.

He did a nice job on the truck from the pics I saw up here. I never liked the avalanche type vehicles much. But that truck looks just that much better with the custom rack and tire carrier.
