I have a full time transfer case and would like to convert it to the viscous coupling type. Can I just unbolt the housing from the transfer case, and fit it along with the vc to my hf2a or are there other internal differences?

Also interested.... sounds like the cases are fairly similar in the case of the FJ80 (aside length), but that the CDL connector might be different on the 100.

I would also like a viscous coupling t-case and HF2AV's are relatively easy to find. Rebuild the VC and install on a 2006 lx470?

HF2A: Open centre diff + CDL
HF2AV: Center diff equipped with viscous coupling type LSD + CDL

The VC has a threshold where it begins reactively limiting the speed difference between the front and rear axles.

I prefer limited slip or torque biasing centre diffs over open centre diffs. YMMV!

I should clarify, I want to know if I can swap the vc section out of a hf2av into a hf2a, not swap the entire unit.
