Back in '03, a friend of mine in Vegas bought a new '03 LC w/ DVD for $53K, which I thought was a pretty good deal since the DVD option is about $3K itself.
I love it, except I'm not wild about the spoiler. It has some bling which wouldn't work for my use such as running boards and 18" wheels but I also would not wheel a brand new LC or LX so it really isn't an issue.
Don't let the wheels be a deal breaker. I'm sure you can trade for a nice set of 16 or 17's with someone if that is your preference. There are a couple aftermarket wheels also; not many, but a few.
In about 5 years, I'll be getting myself an 06 when my 00 is getting tired. Until then, I'll have VVTI envy

This is off I-5 at Bake Pkwy and Research and it's part of the Power Automotive group. The Cerritos and Buena Park Toyota dealer is also part of Power .... Longo is the one that gave me the song 'n dance about "rarity" and wouldn't budge off MSRP.

hey does anybody know what discounts others are getting on either of these our 99 is gettin pretty beat (we are really ruff on our vehicles) my wife thinks we should get a gx but i would rather have the bigger size although i do wish the lx or lc had the kdds suspension option.

Man the new LX and LC look great. I even don't mind the 18" wheels, they give it a nice stance and sporty look-seriously doubt owners are going to put this hi-line suv thru it's paces offroad.
Love the interior! although it needs that Toyota wood kit- which looks really nice. Odd that the wood is standard on the GX but not on the LC.
I think it would be better to get the LX over the LC, the added content & dealer experience would be worth it - especially in this price range. Man, they are sweet rides.

I went to the Lexus dealer today for them to do the DRL recall (too bright). They also disabled the tilt/auto retract steering history, printed the past service history and washed the vehicle. No charge. Lexus :thumbs up:
Maybe its just my specific dealership, but I would never let Lexus touch my vehicle. I have seen brand new cars on the lot with swirl marks all over. They use some process called auto butler (which is just a glorified car wash machine) which, when combined with the community rags used to dry the cars off, seem to churn out pervasive surface scratches.

Yeah, I saw the machine. It's like a rectangle frame that surrounds the vehicle for a "touchless" car wash. They chamois to dry it off. Usually I'm anal about the car wash thing but since its an offroad vehicle, I try not to care about the finish so much. The previous owner only took it to the dealer where they washed it and the paint looks very good.
I bought a 2006 TLC and disliked the rear spoiler (part of a package, and according to the dealer all of them thus far have them included). I knew that there would be at least two holes (one on each side that allowed the spoiler to be bolted on) as well there was an additional hole where the electrical cord went. Because I was concerned about leakage when it rains, etc. I wanted these holes plugged. Every knowledgable person I spoke with said I needed to have these holes welded over for the most assurance that it would not have water leakage/rust in the future.
So I brought the truck to the dealer's preferred body shop that helped me weld those three holes and repaint and clear coat it ($750). Because of the comprehensiveness of the job, you can't tell there used to be a spoiler. But it cost a lot of extra $$$ that a simple $229 factory option cost just to get rid of.
Seems like I should have been able to order a 2006 TLC without a rear spoiler, but the dealers all said the first batch on a new model year (I bought it in JUne 2005) will have all the bells and whistles.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you can order a unit without the spoiler, but it's a special order. Many dealers will tell you can't be done because it's not in their best interest to leave off accessories.

So it was a pain to go through the process, as there this first batch of 2006 all had spoilers, but now I've had the truck a couple of months already.
With a $6,000 discount, it's hard to complain.

How well does the new "Traction Control" work on the newer Land Cruisers (2005-2006). Is it true that it works as good as a locker, only that a sensor automatically locks the differential as needed - several times per minute if traction is loss on any wheel? Or, is it just a fancy limited slip system? Can you actually do any serious climbing on loose dirt or rock crawling? Last question, can a ARB locker be installed on these newer models.
