I just heard that Hunter got his MP billet with the Army. I wanted to say I'm happy and proud of him. He's a great American and will be an even greater soldier.
Welcome to the 1% Hunter.

EDIT:

For those who are that anal, I should have used MOS instead of billet. Either way congrats Hunter.

Congratulations Hunter!

Thank you fror serving. When do you leave?

We need to send you off with an Austin LSLC BBQ or something.

I'm an Army vet, and have no idea what "MP billet" means. Please explain...

I should have said MOS. Either way you should be congratulating Hunter and not trying to steal his thunder by mentioning yourself and what you did. We're all glad you are a vet, but it's his moment.

Congrats Hunter! I'm sure I'll see ya before you ship out, but good luck!!

i was thinking maybe we can do some kind of wheeling / party with food and drinks for him?

just last night his younger brother was saying he might join when he gets older (but he has 5 more years to go).

Relax, Francis. I'm not "trying to steal his thunder", just had never heard "MP billet" before. Next time, ask me if you need help with the tough acronyms.

Congrats, Hunter. Thunder away! ;)

There are billets and MOS. MOS is the military occupational specialty, as in it's what you're trained to do after basic training. The billet is a job slot available or what's been assigned for you to do in a unit; as in this unit has a billet available for an intelligence officer. I know you know this on account of you being a vet an all, which by the way if we ever meet I'll buy you a beer and we can swap stories, compare battle wounds and discuss tough acronyms. Right now Hunter meets the requirement of the MP MOS, but he won't be filling the billet until he gets his training and heads to a unit. PM me with any further comments or if you need any further clarification, let's leave this thread for congratulating Hunter.

Easy guys, no one is stealing Hunter's Thunder (say that fast 5 times :) ), I read it as an honest question, especially for those who didnt serve. Thanks for the explanation though Mike. One more, why is it the 1%?

Congrats Hunter! count me in on a fiesta for sure! You're good people.

I'm aware of what MOS stands for. Billet is also a term for military housing, which made the words "MP billet" nonsensical, at least to me. No need for the beer, or the chat about the service. It was 30 years ago, a means to an end, and I've moved on.

Back to congratulating Hunter; let's get out on the scoots with you and your dad before you leave, the Twisted Sisters awaits!

Billet is Marine Corps term or Navy term for military assignment or job description, they use berthing to mean housing. I'm not trying to start a fight with anyone, it just came across ( to me when i first read it) as a rude hijack. Perhaps I read it wrong, but it sounded like a challenge since it started with I'm a vet and that makes no sense. Either way I'm dropping it. Sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings, it was not the intention of this thread.

The 1% is usually referred to as the top richest people in the US when used in everyday life or when you hear it in the media. The military usually refers to the 1% to mean the service members who currently serve, although the real number is lower than that.

Again, congrats Hunter.

FWIW, I had not clue what a billet or MOS was either, but didn't want to get dressed down for asking.
;)
I'm down for wheeling/camping. Maybe camping/wheeling out at HF? Just an idea to start things rolling...

Thank you again to every one I do appreciate it. Camping and wheelin sounds fun to me maybe just go when it starts to cool off so it's not so hot out

Way to go Dude!!!! I'm in for a party....
