Been busy with work for the past couple weekends. Finally got some shop time in today. I don't think the front axle has been apart since it was built in '78. The caliper bolts were so tight I snapped the 3/8" extension. Still haven't gotten the hub or anything else to break loose yet.

Well that’s the breaking point of a 3/8 extension! :)
That’s a clean break. Looks like it was cut

time to break out the cherry hammer!

Got the rear axle done today. Went with an unplanned Spartan locker. It was a game time decision. Disc brakes should be here any day now.

I am not trying to be a downer, but if you plan to street drive this much you might re-think that locker in the rear. I had that style years ago in a 40 and it was very twitchy on the road and they do make a bunch or noise in parking lots. Off-road, sure.

I don't mind them. Had one in my last 40 and it wasn't all that bad IMO. Had decent road manners and ratcheted a bit in parking lots. Thanks for the input though. It's always welcome.

Got the d/s knuckle apart this afternoon. It was cleaned and prepped for paint. Reassembly will be this week sometime. FedEx brought me some long awaited floor pans today. Been waiting for them a little over a month. Once the axles are done the body work starts.

So, yesterday was a good day. It's not often you find parts in your color. I went to pick up a windshield frame from a guy and when I got there he had the doors as well. Scored the 2 doors for $40 and the windshield for $100. The doors have a little rust on the inside bottoms but it's an easy fix.
Also finished up the rear disc swap and the front rotors and calipers showed up. Rebuilt the center arm and the tie rods got replaced today.

Thanks. It's coming along slowly but surely.

Rockers are patched up and floor pans are mocked up. They will be ready to weld in by tomorrow afternoon. Firewall is tacked into place. Need to pull the body off the frame once the pans are done so I can tweak and fully weld it.

Working on the pass. side floor today. Getting ready to cut the mid bed's turned down section out and patch in new metal to hold the floor pan.

Also, it seems that I got the last Pro Comp 2.5" lift in the US. They have discontinued them, and I lucked out and found this one at 4Wheelparts. Got 5 new OEM steel wheels last week as well.

Got them from Battlefield Toyota in Culpeper VA. Free shipping and they were $135 ea.. They are still available.
