That's 6,647 lbs in real weight. That's almost the same weight as my troopy; how did you get so much in there with so little weight?

I have no idea. We used lightweight wood and we only fill our stuff to the level of the bunks, so we don't drive a truck that is filled to the roof with stuff. Keeping a realistic sense on what is needed or not helps also. Karin-Marijke is very good at that. I just want to keep everything. If it is not used for a year, it gets chucked.

I made a new carrier for the High Lift, after some idea I saw on the Ih8mud forum.

Getting stainless steel allen bolts in the locking hubs in order to get them less quickly stolen.

My favorite Marine Sikaflex.

Next to us stands a nice Land Rover with some nifty ideas. Here seen is a vice screwed onto the bumper.

Or a foldable sand ladder that seconds as a table.

Karin-Marijke seals Sikaflex on the side where we have glued a small strip so we can attach our side table more easily.

The nice Hella lights we got from Bastiaan are getting a honorable spot.

Very nice lights they are.

They will certainly give a bunch of light when we need them.

Graeme's filter is getting fixed on the end of the breather lines of the axles.

This is how our little side table looks like after I cut it in half.

And my hinge system works.

Hi everyone I have been wishing to go back to Bolivia for the longest time to buy a FJ40 and rebuilt it there and then travel from LA Paz to Oruro then to Potosi then Sucre then Tarija then to Santa Cruz and to end up in Cochabamba. I kind of did that trip before when i was a little kid with my parents but now i would like to take my kids. thank you for all your pics brings me great memories.


P.S. yes Coen you were right in Bolivia you dont really need a clock or calendar specially if you are traveling

This is one of the most entertaining threads I've read on ih8mud, you are a source of inspiration Coen!. I also can relate to your plight since I too live in a south american country and I know how much of a PITA it can be to find parts, specially the not finding everything in one shop problem.

One day I hope to buy an FJ40 and do a resto from the gorund up like yours, please keep us updated on your progress.

I love the toilet paper in the lower right hand corner to the right of the gorilla.

Nothing beats those little personalized touches.

We are ready to adorn the car with some vinyl.

Lei Hendrix send me some beige vinyl. That color was not to be had in Bolivia. So my good friend did his best to get me my color. Thanks Lei.

Transfer paper is more expensive than 'Rayban' sticker [the stuff they use to darken the glas of cars] so they use this instead of transfer paper.

This is how the top looks like.

First the dark outlines.

Then the beige lettering on top. Getting it into the seam is not easy and to make things a little more difficult, we have glued in a aluminium strip.
