Trying decide on what color to go with on my 62 resto. Can one of you gurus tell me what colors where available in 1962? Also from the only 62 lit. I have it shows that all the interior trim pieces such as the gauge, glove box, seats and so on where painted the color of the body instead of the pewter of the later 40's. Is that correct? Last question, the wheel color appears to be black in the sales flyer and not gray like other 40's is that correct as well?

I really appreciate the help guys and if you have any pics of early 40's I'd love to see them

The early 40 wheels should be black, usually inside the pocket you can get an idea of the original body color (I found my best sample on a grease covered crossmember underneath). I'm not sure if it the early 40 was the same choices as the 25............red, green, white or grey. I haven't seen any color charts or samples yet.

Thanks Jim, mine was originally white........ someone along the line did a rough touch up job, almost looks like they painted the interior with a brush . Well maybe I can stray from original a little bit on the color I really like Spring or Nebula Green

Does any one have an idea of what color this is........... it is from a 1961 borchure. I'd really like to have that green

digging up an old thread here...... still hoping maybe one you gurus might know what color this. Some how I missed the thread on the early FJ43 in BC a while back but it is the color I am looking for......

also was talking with toy teacher about his 1962 and it appears these early 40's had their engine bay and underside of the hood painted black and not the body color....... were the 25's the same way? I had always assumed on 25's and 40's that all the body parts were the same color, and figured my black engine bay was a PO job :D

Hood, lower part of the fenders, firewall are black on 1963 and earlier cruisers. Can't help on that color, looks too dark green from the stock color. (your parts are shipping tomorrow) thank's John

As far as 25's go, I think Mike is right. firewall and the inside of the front wings of the tub were black, and that's it. And it looks like it was done after the body color.

I think we talked about it before, but I can't remember. Not to say the other bits on a 40 aren't black............

Anyone know if it was black on the '64's as well...or did it end with the '63's?

Would that be a gloss, semi, or flat black?

Thanks!

You get any paint yet JP?

Is this Spring Green?

Why not get the color scanned from a good photo?

No paint yet...... things are going slow right now :frown: getting married and trying to finally graduate college have me swamped:doh:

I am pretty sure it isn't spring green, as I don't believe it was offered that early.... but I am by no means certain.
