First off, the radios we all have are UHF and the frequencies posted by the CMCC board are VHF so Patrick's suggestion is not possible.

Sam is correct, reprogramming the commercial handheld radios is involved. More importantly, programming the commercial radios to HAM restricted frequencies for use by non-HAM operators is not something our resident radio-geek wants to be involved with. The frequencies we plan to use were selected specifically to remain within the FCC rules given the non-HAM makeup of the group. The repeater that Ed has built will cover our communications needs just fine.

Sam is correct. The posted frequencies are VHF (2 Meter) Amateur Radio (Ham) frequencies. Unless you have at least an FCC issued Technician Class license, don't think of transmitting on them. However, as Chris mentioned, anyone can transmit on any freq in the event of a real emergency! Some of the Gotham City guys are Hams and they are enjoying the benefits of Ham radio - thus the posting of the frequencies. Thanks guys.

The CLCC radios are UHF only. There are several technical, operational and legal reasons why the UHF frequencies we are using are the preferred frequencies for the CLCC radios. I will explain over a beer at the camp grounds.

Jon and I will be putting a repeater on-the-air at Rausch Creek. We will have a demo on how the repeater works with the CLCC radios and how to get the best use of it.

Sorry for the late response. We just got back from a week at the beach. Yes, I was emulating a beached whale.

Looks like Charlton and i are coming up Wednesday but don't know specifics yet. We are the slow convoy but anyone is welcome to join us. We top out at about 60 unless going down hill, then we get up to 62. Somebody pick a channel for the radio and we will try to get in touch.

I vote channel 3. (3 never gets picked)

Ed and I usually caravan using UHF channel 1 on the club radios. I'm not yet sure when we'll be on the road.

Cavitch, tiki and I are launching by 3:30 Wednesday we hope. Should arrive by happy hour. We will not be setting any land speed records towing with my Silverado and will be easy to spot. Probably still faster than a 40 on the open highway by itself though!

Which way are you going and what time are you leaving?

Can someone please email me the .img file with the CLCC frequencies. I want to program my Baofeng the easy way. I have CHIRP, but am not a pro using it. I figured out how to program the simplex freqs we are using, but can't figure out the duplex programming.

I will stuff as much firewood in as I can carry. Only bringing the chevy, so I am limited on space. Patrick, I believe we are just taking 270 to 81 past Harrisburg.
