Hey guys, I think Im out for the CMCC... Just too much money! Your talkin easily a $400-$500.00 weekend by the time everyone gets finished taking your money between camping, Rausch Creek fees, CMCC fees, gas food etc. etc. etc... Don't get me wrong Im one of the guys that doesnt usually blink an eye when it comes to spending money but damn!!! I would really like to go but just trying to talk myself into believing it will be worth it when you can wheel just down the road from there and it costs you nothing to camp or wheel just have to pay for food and gas.....

Yeah, it adds up. However, you got to pay to play on the east coast. I'm not familiar with the free place you refer to, but camping at Rausch is free; you just miss out on the socializing. We camped at Rausch my 1st CMCC and at twin grove last year. Twin Grove was worth the cost IMHO. The camping is better and the people are all there tooand hey you may make up for it at the raffle.:D :meh:

It is a little costly but it's a good time with good people. You can save a little money by not wheeling all the days. Find someone's with a spare seat and ride with them. I had just as much if not more fun riding with some one. You can stay at Roush the camping is free and there will probably be people staying there. Hell I would stay at touch if enough people were staying there.
This is a very good event put on by our sister club that some of us enjoy attending. If you are interested come up for the day or hitch a ride all the way with someone. And see what you get for your money.

Were down the road can you wheel for FREE! Does it have the same level of trails as Roush Creek!

Stepping down off my soap box. Hope to see you there.

Rausch's camping is hit and miss and there is a high probability of load jackholes that stay up all night. Twin Grove also has stuff for the fam, like a swimming pool, arcade, merry-go-round etc...
Chris makes a good point regarding riding along one or 2 days.
CMCC and Fall Crawl are my only consistent wheeling opportunities where I get to hang out with the fellas, burn stuff and drink too much so I view it as worth the expense and chalk it up as a "vacation".

Starting to get excited about CMCC!

According to Matt Reed there are no cabins available at the campground during the coal mine event, and I think he said there were no cottages available either. I know that the Gotham guys reserved the big cabins at the event site last year. Gary S

Yeah, saw that... I though they may have blocked them off from the internet. I haven't called to ask either.

Yep, we reserved the 2 big cabins by the campground. Very convenient for storing raffle stuff, and a comfortable meeting place to handle stuffing bags and event meetings.

Mark reserved a couple of smaller ones for the event, but anyone could have them. Pretty sure it was announced on our mailing list. But all the rest just went really fast when we announced the date.

Other than that we didn't really block anything off. There's another event going on that weekend too.

TG keeps building cabins though. We may even have to move the primitive camping area in 2015. There are more cabins slated for the current primitive area.

Just over a week out!!

It looks like we are going to have cooler temps than last year. I'm still planning to get there Tuesday afternoon/evening.

So, I was looking for a place to eat breakfast on the way out Sunday AM and I found a place in Harrisburg called the Capital Diner and there is a Harbor Freight right across the street and the Bass Pro shop is just around the corner as well.

When are the rest of you people going up? I'm heading up Wednesday and willing to convoy.

I'm planning to head up Wednesday around noon or so. I'll be taking 15 north from Warrenton to Harrisburg, then north on 81. We usually meet at the Sheetz in Haymarket (15 and I-66).

Unfortunately, I will be heading up early Friday morning from Rockville. I hope to wheel Friday and film on Saturday.

Brother Burl and I will be heading up Tuesday.

Mark Cavitch and I are heading up Wednesday after work. As things are shaping up, I should be able to leave work early, but that will be a game day decision. I would predict being wheels up between 3-6:00 pm. Patrick if a convoy plan works we are all for it. We both probably jump on the beltway at the Braddock rd exit. Lemme know

Just saw this in the flyer GLCC sent out.

PINE GROVE REPEATERS
145.170 MHz - offset, PL 110.9
146.640 MHz - offset, PL 82.5

HAM info
“Land Cruiser” General Frequency
146.460 MHz

Ed - How hard is it to reprogram the motorola hand sets for these frequencies? Or should we not do that?

@emorth what's the verdict with our radios? Are we programed for those freqs? I really need to get smart on what these radios are capable of and how to program them.

The club radios are UHF
http://www.capitallandcruiserclub.org/radio/

The Baofengs should work in those freq Patrick listed, however you will need a Technician license or greater in order to use them. Amateur radio only!

Also, the motorolla radios Ed got the club can only be programmed on a computer with expensive motorolla software.

The baofengs are easy to modify and play with, but I would not recommend them to persons unlicensed to operate in its freq range.

Pretty sure Ed is going to throw up one or two repeaters as well that should work with the club radios.
Recommend that trail leader carry both uhf and vhf radios to communicate to Pine Grove base and to trail group. I can lend out my baofeng if anyone needs one, maybe i'll even program it to those listed freq/tone.

I can program my baofang to those freq. but I will not use them only In an emerg. But I think with Edd's repeaters we will be fine with our UHF. Freq.

I'm pretty sure the CLCC group will nominate Ed as convoy RTO to relay emergency traffic on VHF if necessary.
Someone should bring a whiteboard for the convoy brief.

Stump, I'm sure Ed will give you a crash course in coms if you ask nicely.
