My need to turn right has NOTHNG to do with NASCAR or racin' or 4 wheelin'. It's either turn right or I have to back down a narrow 100 yard driveway. See ya Sunday - Hope the shop is "on the left" :-)

Sorry, I don't know your vehicle, but it's an FJ62 right? Maybe it's time to switch to a nice H42 (cheap and easy, about consistently 18% lower gearing than your auto), crap an H55f is $1800 brand new (okay, granted not including install).

Yes it is an 62. Email already sent to Wholesale Automatics, re: a new A440F, but I haven't ruled out other options.

I'd get a second opinion...doesn't quite sound like the TC to me.

Was there any leaking of fluids (besides tears) and how is the fluid level and color?

I checked the dipstick yesterday... full, pink, and translucent. The TC weeps a lil bit. I have a known leak (about 1 Tbsp every time I park) at the rear main seal.

A second opinion is definitely in order.

I gotta fix my vacuum transfercase crap. So you'll se me. BMAN do you still want that Mil-Spec 0/1AWG wire? If you do I'll bring it w/ crimpers and a bunch of terminal lugs. If you need anything else tell me.

Hey everyone ,

My name is Evan

Excited about finding you guys! I have many somewhat smaller/ medium issues to do on my fj80. I just bought it. It is a 94 and has 140K on it runs great but I was hopping someone could walk me through a PHH swap as mine is leaking.I can bring all parts for the swap as I understand that I just need a hose and two clamps and a dreamel. I don't have any tools right now to speak of as this is my first automobile. I'm a avid bicycle rider and mechanic and made it all the way to 31 years of age with out ever owning a automobile.

I love my cruiser and want to learn all I can about working on it myself. I also plan on over the next 3 years or so to completely mod it for expedition.

It seems that there is going to be a ton of work going on and will be a great place to learn about what can done.

I'm coming up from Tucson. I also need to join CSC

C ya soon

Welcome Evan.

I am not sure if it is a good idea to drive it to Phx when the PHH is leaking. It can let go any time.

hummm did not really think about that possibility. I will try to do it with a buddy this weekend using the posts as a reference. Hope i will be able to make it to the next meeting.

Wanna do the birf's...

I need to rebuild the birf's, while I believe I can do it in the driveway, I'll be much more motivated to get it done if I can't drive home until it's done...

I have the seals, bearings, grease, and diff oil. I also have a few asorted tools. However, I will need:
1) fish scale to measure preload
2) assorted specialty tools to remove & replace bearings-n-races
3) and of course an occasional "that's ok" - and none of that "ohhhh shiiiittttt" stuff

On top of that, can someone help me evaluate my steering feel, rod-ends an alike.

See ya Sunday.

Got a fish scale and bearing puller (I think) that I will bring. As far as replacing bearings-n-races seems like I just used the old races and a BFH to start things off then just used a brass drift and the BFH to run then home.

It's about time to schedule another wrenchin', BS'n day at Truckwerks!

Next Wrenching Day - ?

Yes we are definitely due if the fine gents from Truckwerks will have us. I have a couple of projects I need to check with them on prior to that day.

I specifically logged on to this forum today to see if another wrenching day was in the works. I have a couple of projects to do -- anyone able to firm up a date for the next gathering?
