come to think of it, one my blinkers leaks..........

I doubt you want silicone clutch fluid in it, that stuff is nasty!;p

Well, at least I don't need to turn my front calipers!

I did that last weekend...

Count me in

Things I'd like some help with:
1. Had a bad (old) airlocker switch and replaced it with a toggle - now it won't work. Any electricians out there?
2. Steering very loose and also very hard to turn to the right. Would like a little help finding out the cause.
If I'm too late to find room in the shop, I'd be happy to help out and ask lots of questions.
Thanks
Ray

I have replaced an ARB airlocker switch before with the newer rocker model - I'll dig out my wiring diagrams for it

as far as the steering - what rig?

Steering problem is on a '71 FJ40. 33" tires and some lift. Beyond that don't know much about the rig. New to FJ40s and still learning.

Why would you ever want to turn right? :D

Not everyone drives a NASCAR. SOme of us enjoy REAL racing that has right turns and jumps too...

What??? Where you out wheelin???

LOL, don't I wish! :whoops:

Dang girl - that sucks. :frown: Define "blew up".

I was driving to work, after about 5 miles -- exactly when I was trying to cross I-17  -- she didn't wanna go anymore, no matter how much I mashed on the gas, or what gear I put it in. Limped into the Shell station at 10mph, then had it towed to Toyowest.

They looked at it and said that it looks like the torque converter went, and then took out everything else down the line. Estimate: $2500 for a used tranny and install.

I had it towed back to the apt while I consider its fate. Unfortunately, the prop manager saw it being off-loaded, and last night slapped a towing warning on it.   I'll just have to move it from time to time.

It still drives -- for about 5 miles or so -- before it starts acting up. I might need to do some further investigation.

Maybe I'm missing something, but the two statements above don't jive...

Is your tranny overheating after those 5 miles?

I had a torque converter go out, and there was no intermittent recovery from the symptoms, it was simply bad and then got worse. Of course, that was a Chevy 700R4...

I know, I thought that was weird too. If it is overheating, the indicator light on the shifter isn't coming on, or I'm not seeing it.

It's happened two days in a row, when I was almost home ('d gone about 8 miles) from work on Monday, and then halfway (4.5 miles) to work on Tuesday. It was much more severe on Tuesday than Monday.

Also, at the shop, they were able to drive it from the tow truck into the bay. The tow truck driver also drove it onto the truck from the bay. I was able to back it from the truck into my parking spot.

I'd get a second opinion...doesn't quite sound like the TC to me.

Was there any leaking of fluids (besides tears) and how is the fluid level and color?
