Bad idea?

I was looking at various rear recovery points...

If it were me, I'd prefer to put thos kinds of loads at the ends of the frame rails, knowing the size of the rear cross-member. It looks good but maybe is a little crowded.

If you already have the 2" receiver I would get one that slips into there.

If you wanted better clearance I would tie in where the frame rails are, or run a single one that you switch out with your receiver.

Mojo: I looked at the recovery point that slides into the receiver but didn't want to pull on the bottom of the cross member...

markfj60: agreed, guess I'll remove the bumperettes and look for anchors...

I use a receiver that has a shackle hanging from it on my 40. I suppose if I pulled an 80, it may want to twist, but it's been great so far. ends of frame are the ideal spots though.

Final Design

Okay, I've been out of town for a bit... got home and spent some time whittling on the previous weldment. I now have a final design and parts ready for welding...

this is a total cheap shot, but there is quite a bit of "artistic license" taken in that modeling job...

:p;):lol::lol::lol::lol::flipoff2:

Agreed...

The receiver tube should be black... :flipoff2:

Got it welded together today and it looks great. I'll grind on it a bit tomorrow and paint it.

Thank you Jericho!

Well then why the heck are we still looking at some CAD drawing for?

Don't grind on it. It looks perfect, paint it and go!!!!!

Yes, Jarred has skills!

I probably should have clarified about the grinding... I was going to round the top corners but decided not to. It's painted and when I get back in town I'll install it and post a pic.

Done!

Finished the backing plate (channel) and mounted the receiver... Thanks again Jarred!

Looks nice & stout. If you ever want to add some struts from the hitch to the frame for more strength let me know and we can zap some on at my yard. Lots of scrap to work with. What is the program used for the drawings?
