Arb bumper with d ring brackets!?!?

I was really happy to recieve my ARB bumper that was until I realized that it had no bracket for my D Rings... So I ordered these from WARRIOR PRODUCTS

I definitely had some doubts about these brackets being effective on the trail but I have to say they are trail tested tough! Never had a problem with them and Im very satisfied

FYI, there is a really good reason why the ARB bumper does not have from the factory recovery points like you added. The frame mounts for the bumper are not designed for the sudden forces applied when performing a recovery with say a snatch strap. You could very easily damage the bumper and/or mounts doing so. I would exercise a lot of caution using those!!

There is a really good reason why people add recovery points to the frame like the ones spressmon makes. These are direct solid mount to the frame, and thus can be used for any type of recovery.
 
I definitely have had some doubts about these but they have performed well and I've been cautious with them as well. But thanks for the input! Very interesting I didnt know that! ha
 
No worries! I hope they work out well for you.

I actually might add a set to mine just for looks and to have somewhere to secure the winch cable when not in use (like your pic). ;) For any recovery though I will have a pair of spressmon points on the frame.
 
Taylor O .. hijack are those IPF 968 CSG ..? I would appreciate comments about performance .. ( or if you make a thread about 'em .. fantastic ! )
 
Yes they are
But Im probably not the best judge of their off road performance mainly because I have a lower "street legal" bulb in them than what they came with because I like to drive with them on at night on and off the road. But they work great on and off road as they are now so I'm sure with the bulbs they came with they can only be better. Did that help any?
 
did you put some serious backing plates on the back side where they are mounted. Like previously said, i dont think that front plate would withstand a major recovery event. You may want to look into something attaching to the frame. What is the yield rating on the bracket?

Front plate would be fine (relatively), it's the accordian mounts that will go first.

This is what I was referring to when I said the bumper mounts would get damaged. Specifically the accordion portion which I understand is there to keep front crash rating and airbag functionality?

I think that would go before the front plate. Short story, don't find out! :D
 
Plus, that's the older style bumper, that isnt designed to accommodate a winch pulling on it. The bumper on those is mounted very lightly if you will. I wouldnt use those recovery points. I'd entertain the idea on the newer style, but still would rather the recovery point straight to the frame.
 
I know it feels like everyone is ganging up on you but the guys who have commented, have a lot of off-road experience and know what they are talking about. They do look awesome but as the proud owner of a Land Cruiser you are going to end up stretching it's legs as you discover how incredible these things are after you leave the pavement (if you haven't already). Imagine how pissed you would be if you had not received this feedback and actually got into a recovery situation where damage did occur due to the mounting locations of those brackets! Man, they do look sweet though...

x2, for light duty stuff, they'll be fine, but yanking with a snatch strap - nope.

However, they do have me thinking, I wonder what the spacing and diameter of the mounting holes is and if they could be bolted up into the place of the stock tow hook thing. Still not as stout as spress's, but better than nothing.

I can tell you that just from looking at those the bolt spacing is WAY wider than the stock frame recovery mounting points.
 
I think the shackle hole would be in the wrong direction for a frame bracket.
LIke everyone else agrees though, they do look bad ass on the bumper.
 
Just a thought: If the ARB bumper mounts can handle the load of normal winch use, those shackle mounts should be absolutely fine for snatch block use, shouldn't they (as long as they are properly backed up)? And I don't mean snatch strap.

On the newer style ARB bumper where the winch mounts to the bumper itself, yes. On the older style ARB bumper like the original poster has where the winch mounts in a separate cradle attached directly to the frame, NO!

How can you tell the difference by looking at the bumper which is old and which is new?
