Trying to make up my mind as to which seats to go with in my 94. The original leather on the front seats was cracked so I had them redone in vinyl and the 2nd row leather was in good shape so I left as is. Recently I purchased another 94 to fix up and sell, this one has the cloth seats that are in really good shape and just need a good cleaning. Should I keep the vinyl and leather seats or go with the cloth. Silly question i know, but Im sure I'll get some good feedback on here.

I went with new leather on my '94 although I did toss out the electric seats and replaced them with set of manual seats from another '94 that had leather. Lseat made me a set of new leather covers which was real easy to fit. I added some new foam to the seat bottoms and the result is really impressive .

Cloth for summer. Heated leather for winter. So yea, 2 sets of seats.

I switched mine to cloth. I like it so much better!

I'll second the cloth. Mainly because mine were in stellar condition, and 98% of the leather were trashed.

I'm assuming this question is rhetorical. Leather sucks. Cloth is the only way to go.

My vote is for cloth. If you are able to get seats that came stock with cloth they are also more comfortable than the leather ones which also had automatic functions. The electric motors in the leather seats make them heavier (lowers mpg) and also not able to slide back as far necessitating the landtank seat mod if you are tall. I was able to score a set of cloth manual seats from a junkyard and even though the cloth is nasty and dirty they are more comfortable feeling than my LX450 seats which have been recovered. Also you are can slide/ tilt the seats much faster on the stock cloth models instead of having to wait 10 seconds on the stock leather ones.

... instead of having to wait 10 seconds on the stock leather ones.

10 seconds! That is on a good day :). On a winter night I need to make sure the seats are where I want them the next day. There is no adjusting until the interior warms up and the grease in the motor softens. I have cleaned and re-greased the screw tracks but to no avail.

I would swap to cloth in a heartbeat if the opportunity arose...

Both my 80’s now have cloth seats. One with Canadian spec alcantera suede, the other was factory leather but reskinned in fabric. After land tanks seat extension, I have a hard time telling which is better!

i have a full set of cloth seats i am thinking of stuffing my LX. i have cloth in my 93. they are so much better but then on the other hand i have a set of 40th seats and i love the way they look. too many choices lol.

The consensus is the quality of the leather in our rigs is awful, and it's all over 20 years old now. The quality of the cloth is fantastic, and they have held up well. Plus, the cloth are far lighter and don't have electrical/motor gremlins. Most Mud members, if honest, would wave a magic wand for cloth manual seats if they could. I know I would, for sure.

Who made your your cloth seat covers? The leather in my LX has seen better days.
They are out of a 94 land cruiser. They are manual cloth seats so no covers. They are lighter and I got a bit more leg room. Such a huge improvement over the original leather power seats.

I'd take a set of cloth LC seats any day. But given that most people are after them and they're not exactly plentiful, I'm probably going to get something from the junk yard instead. Nissan "zero gravity" seats sound comfy. :o

My stock LX seats are rock hard and falling apart. The cost to repair is high, even though all the electrics still work.
