Clear Coat on the Hood is Toast. Fixable?

I'd repaint. The rest of the truck is too nice. What's a repaint for a hood? $3-500? Not chump change, but I'd think very well worth it.

If you're not ready to go full beans with paint, maybe do some experimenting with some wet sanding and some aerosol clear to see if it would help at all?

Yeah... I think this is where I am. If the rest of the paint on the truck were flawless (or close), I'd drop $500 in a minute to get the hood to match. But, a fresh hood would stand out in the other direction.

Maybe my attempts to wet sand and rattle can the clear will net an 80% job... and match the rest of the truck ;-)

Have @kelly saad paint the whole thing Calvary Blue one night while you are camping at 100s in the Hills.

I'm planning on trying the wet sand and 2k clear if I'm not getting the shine to match the rest of the truck. I'm 99% sure the hood has been repainted.

My hood is pretty uniform, but definitely dull in certain lighting situations. I've tried clay bar and polishing and compounding with mixed results, so the next step is to wet sand with high grit and see what kind of finish it leaves

Don't bet on the hood having been repainted. My bet is the beginning stages of clear coat failure. My hood looked good and then in a matter of months it went cloudy and a year later I have complete failure in the middle between the two washer nozzles. Also noticed similar stages on the front bumper and rear bumper.

I'm going to sand everything down and respray the bumpers and the hood. Probably rattle can unless my neighbor calls in a favor to blend it in. My truck could use a complete respray but I just don't think I can justify it with the family CFO.
