Soooooo close. Version 8.0 allowed the lid to close. This version has no bottom. Now I have a new issue. I can't reopen the lid. To close the lid you have to push down to a certain point to get to latch. To reopen the lid you have to push it even further to unlatch. I was able to slide a little tool in and unlock the lid but obviously that isn't a solution. I still need another 1/32nd of an inch. This is getting laughable at this point. I went ahead and went back to version 3.0 which fit perfect but in no way would allow the lid to close. I am going to make an option that allows the lid to close and the other option which is strictly functional and doesn't allow the lid to close. I will post pics of the finished version of both in the next few days and let you guys decide which one I should go into production with. For the 1/2 dozen of you who ordered the Cruiser inserts and you have a LX, I'm super close to making a batch and getting your replacement shipped out. I will give you guys the option to choose either version; even if I don't go into mass production on one of them. I will at least make a handful of each version originally.

Sounds good, thanks for all the hard work!

Here is the version that does NOT allow the lid to close. It is the same depth as the Landcruiser version and you can clearly see it sticks up above the hole almost 3/8". Still can't get my brain around why Mr. T made the LX570 cup holder even shallower than the already super shallow Yota cup holders. Go figure. Version 9.0 does allow the lid to open and close. I will have pics of that version up tomorrow. I will go into production on these this weekend and have both versions ready to ship out on Monday. The guys who already ordered the Landcruiser inserts but needed the LX570 inserts (I think there is 6 of you) will get there's first. Once I have taken care of all of them, then I will stock them on my website. For those of you who needed to swap out your inserts, now is the time to message me so I can get your order put together. Let me know the date and name on your order and if you want the version that allows the lid to close or the version that does not.

This is the version that allows the lid to close. It will NOT be baby poop brown. Just using up ugly colors during prototyping. Final version will have the smooth flat black finish.

@bhicks is there any way to make the inserts a bit larger to fit bottles? I've noticed every bottle or mug I try to put in the cup holder is just small enough to where if I stuff it in I pull the insert with it when I go to drink (which isn't a big deal). Also other bottles I've bought are just too big to fit in the cup holders, so I pull the insert and just have it flop around as I drive.

I generally carrier larger bottles of water for when I go on longer drives/wheeling trips and it looks like they could be widened while still keeping the integrity. Just wanted feedback to see if you already tried this or not.

I used some 2" wide velcro on the front, where there is a little cut out. I kept it separated at the seam in case I needed to remove half for a bottle that is too big to fit. Problem solved.

Agreed. I got my inserts yesterday and large size Yeti Ramblers don't quite fit and pull up the inserts when removing. I may try the screw trick I saw earlier in this thread.

I just keep a 3L Camelbak bladder in my Coolbox. ;)

Sorry for the delayed response. Been super busy this week. I can make them holes bigger but then we you put those grocery store water bottles or soda cans, they tip over. 3" diameter hole is about as close to the middle ground as I can get. As I go bigger, there are issues with smaller containers tipping. 3" is pretty much the Universal size for drinks. It definitely does not fill all but it's as close to the middle for fitment as I can get.

It is time for an update. Here is the final LX570 version for the inserts. There are two options. See pics below. I printed a large batch all week and just stocked them to our website. Here's the link:

Thanks for the response. Had a feeling if it was larger it might compromise smaller cups/regular bottles

Take 2: NOW they are restocked. I restocked the site but forgot to save the changes. They are available now.

Sweet!! One LX holder headed my way. Appreciate your work!

It looks like the raw option is no longer available and only the sanded and painted can be selected. Are you offering the raw in the future?

Most of all the orders have been for the smooth finish and not the raw plastic. Less than 10% of the 200 series inserts ordered were for the raw plastic. I try not to have too many options in inventory due to limited storage in our shop. If one option has WAY less demand then the other then I usually drop it. In regards to teh LX570 inserts, the "closed lid" option has too much curvature up top to look good in the raw plastic form. It badly needs to be sanded to look correct. I'm always open to offering the raw plastic version if someone wants that option. Just shoot me a PM and I can set that up for you.

Hey,

Just got my cup holders today... In less than a week from ordering them... They look great!!!

Just an FYI for anyone else out there with them...

I took some 2" painters tape and taped the two sides together so they would not rattle...

I just sculpted it together with 2-3 inches of tape at a time and fused it into one unit...

You'll have to be aware of the small slots that guide the cup holder in place (in the center both front and rear) and make indentations for them so the cup holder slides all the way down flush...

With enough tape in strategic spots it should become pretty snug, hopefully avoiding the dreaded screw...

Thanks again, this addition should make driving with a drink container a lot easier in the 200...

Now, I can actually have both hands on the wheel while driving through turns... LOL...

Jeff
