This clean Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 for sale received a mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment in 2017. Originally a California vehicle, it is refinished in an off-white over grey, with corrosion corrected, the engine refurbished, and other mechanical items dealt with. We will never forget the first time we rode in an FJ40. It was in California in the mid-90s and we’d take it over the hill to go mountain biking by the beach. - Exterior refurbishment:
- Rust repair on the rear corner window, the hatch top bar, and on the rockers, and replacement of the roof top gasket, after which the truck was refinished in white.
- Weatherstripping and decals were replaced and rear flares were added.
- Additional equipment includes silver-painted dual side mirrors, a roof rack, and a black front bumper and rear bumperettes.
- Mechanical refurbishment:
- The 3.9-liter F155 inline-six was refreshed with a rebuilt carburetor and PerTronix ignition was fitted, and the prior owner replaced the fuel lines, wiring, coolant hoses, flexible lines, motor mounts, ignition components, the water pump, and more. The battery tray and hold-downs were also replaced.
- The suspension and brake systems were overhauled, with replacement of the shocks, wheel cylinders, brake master cylinder, parking brake cables, hard and soft brake lines, and brake shoes and springs.
- Steel 15" wheels were refinished in black and wear polished hubcaps, and replacement Toyo Open Country A/T tires were installed in 2015.
- The split-bench front seats are trimmed in gray vinyl. Amenities include black rubber floor mats, a heater, a roll bar, shoulder belts for the front-seat passengers, and a glove box. Seam separation is noted in the driver’s seat upholstery.
