Well the light is showing at the end of the tunnel....I got the birfs to fit into the housing yesterday after getting the housing grounded out a little. But I can't get the stupid axles to slide into the differental all the way. JP and I are gonna try and get it done this week. Then all is left is bolting the axle back together...then puttin it back under the 40 and welding on the ubolt plates. Once I get it back on 4 wheels I can slide my rebuilt tranny and tcase back on. Just gotta bolt the 2 together. Then puttin on the new brake booster and master. I've found a website that sells pre bent brake lines for landcruisers. So put those on and new rubber ones...get new calipers from advanced auto. Then weld in a new floor plate and set up my seat and BOOM it'll be ready to Rock and Roll. Not a lot left...just a bunch of little stuff to finish up. And the hold up right now is gettin the axles all the way back in....but it will soon be resolved. I can hear it rumblin now!

Chuck hollar at me if you want me to come do a little welding for you. I have been itching to weld something. Unfortunately I have nothing to weld at the moment so I have been putting off what I actually need to do on my cruiser.

Chuck. What year are your 3rd members? It is possible that they are coarse spline. But I thought that changed in 68. Did you look at the birfs before you put them back in?

Yeah last night I looked on spector and the differentials go from like 58 to 84...so I am good there..plus when we had the FJ unvieling in g'ville I actually talk to Marv about it and he said they would fit. I'm just not doin somethin right...not having done it before I'm not sure what I should be feeling so JP will be able to help with that...will let ya know how it goes tomorrow.

Discovered the culprit tonight....JP and i pulled the Diff and it has course spline spider gears....Luckily JP has a set of fine spline spider gears so I'll be switchin them out and I'll be back on a roll.

When you mount everything up just use JPs welder to tack everything together. Then bring it to me and I'll weld everything together including the shock tabs.

You also might want to set your caster at around 3 degrees rotating your pinion down. This will make it track a little better on the road.
