Chopped FJ40?

I streatched my 40 in the hood and the front fenders. It looks great and most do not know. It was not that hard.

louvered hood

That would work for compartment cooling. I like the louvers. I do not however like the slam job.

Ok, so I know this is turned into Chat, but this thing is "chopped" a bit off the top and boy do I wish I owned one!:bounce:

I've been waiting for a time and place to post up these pics of a totally awesome Cruiser I shamelessly stole from the Net.

Total bastardization that is.

All I can say about that rig is WHY?

I do like the 45 although it still is a waste of a classic FJ45

Tonito, do you now the owner of that orange Toy?

I'm asking this to you becouse I'm now working on my FJ 40 with 80 axles, now bulding coil springs, and some informations about that car would be very welcome!

So is that a concept vehicle, early Mega Cruiser or a customized FJ45LV?

I kinda like it.

As I understand it that is a truck Rob Millen built for Toyota (for SEMA?), think the LV was widened to fit 80 series chassis and running gear, motor etc. I think it has an almost total :clap::clap::clap:

Why exactly would you want to do this? Do you like hitting your head on the roof? Do you like reducing the rearward visibility even more? Do you like reducing forward visibility too? Do you like reducing cargo room?
Do you actually like the looks of it?

I can see the downsides. What I don't see is an upside. ???

Mark...
All the reasons we didn't like the FJC.
I really can't see an upside either.

The reason a 40, or 45 looks as good as it does is because it is built around function. Modifying it for forms sake will not make it look better.

That being said I like the rat rod 45. It also has function, just a different one. One that works with a chopped top.

Yard Cruiser.
Build a mini (40) and put a B&S engine in it and give it to your 8 year old kid to drive in the yard;;;; , maybe even stick a mower to it so he can shave the lawn for you. But by the time he is 9 he will be doing SOA.
That is functionality .

About the only thing I hate about the 40 , is the head room.
I don't think I d want to lower the roof.

i just got home and wanted to reply to this post because the one that was posted on craiglist a while back belongs to the guy i bought mine from. his name is john lotin and hes about 75 years old and loves cruisers. he has been building cruisers for about 20 years and selling them. i went to school with his son and the one on the right in the first photo is the one i bought from him. i think he still has the choped one and it is still for sale. he choped 4 inches out of the sides just because he wanted something different and johns kinda short anyway. he has owned it quit a while and is just getting a little tired and has other projects going on so thats why it was for sale.
