It is $34.99 for a pair.

Well the ebay one looks like a pretty much common 12led LED you can get from superbrightleds.com or autolumination.com etc.

I have bought even a few that look just like that and they are maybe as bright as stock if maybe a little more.

The CREE ones from the other link are a totally different design and I would bet are brighter than stock as they should be pricewise. I don't see how some guy can offer $9 for a MSRP $35 and then free ship them and make money on ebay even if he had a warehouse full he either would have had to steal a truckload or know somebody.. plus its ebay ;)

My Ebay LED's are fine for now. They are noticeably brighter than stock. Id bet the CREE ones are awesome though. I may upgrade if these die.

I went with the ones in the picture a month ago guaranteed to be brighter then the Japan LED on Ebay and they were just a little brighter then stock. I would like to know what they list the Lumen output is of ther $35 ones?

the cree ones will give you backup HID lights!!! :)

Cree LEDs are indeed very bright. I haven't seen the product referenced above but I'm a flashlight wonk and flashlights based on Crees are among my favorites. They give a lot of light output for the size/price.

I can definitely see where they'd made a very strong backup light at a good price, and with only modest current requirements.

My friend patent the product himself its awesome and its a growing trend right now!!!

Can you ask your buddy if a warm white color can be ordered for the same price?

Thanks.

i dont know anything about these lights, but CREE really is some serious technology. i have torches that are pretty impressive

just ordered a set and will report back on the results :)

Which ones did u order? eBay or 35 dollar

By the look of the JLC LED unit (on their website), it appears they have put an aspheric lens over the top of the LED. That will provide a narrow beam and help to project light a distance rather than just lighting up the reverse light lens.

Basically it would turn the reverse lights into reverse headlights versus reverse indicator lights. i.e. I'm betting most car manufactures design the reverse lights as a way for another driver, pedestrian etc to be aware that the vehicle is in reverse, versus using the reverse lights to light up the rear area.

If the the JLC units are fully regulated etc, then ~$35 for a pair would be a good deal. It appears they have adequate heatsinking (assuming the picture is showing an alloy heatsink that the aspheric sits on and that the LED is also sitting on).

Superbrightleds do have 1W/3W etc reverse lights that would likely be as bright (and are a little cheaper), but the aspheric on the JLC units should project light further.

cheers,
george.

Ordered a set to complement my LED tails...
Will post my impressions once I get them and install em...

Thanks to George for your input! It's nice to have a pro on the board
with valuable insight so that we may make better informed decisions.
