Will someone go look at a Landcruiser for me in NJ - East Brunswick? I'm willing to pay $50 for someone's time. Please pm me and I'll give you the details of where it's located.

Thanks!

You might want to cross post this in the GCLC section of MUD. They are the local NY/NJ group and can help you out.

Dude. It's in NJ. Get one from the other side of the country and you will be much better off.

Good call! I posted there as well. Thanks for the idea.

Is this the blue one at the dealership or another? If you have questions on Blue - I would rate it a pass they dropped the price 1k for a reason. Good amount of underside rust - leaking exhaust and missing a/c belt - did not look well maintained -brake pads at min, tires need to be replaced etc - let me know if you have other specifics.

Ha ha yea if dealer says "Sold as IS" thats a dead giveaway right there...

It was the blue one. Thanks for your help! I didn't realize the price had dropped, etc. I'll pass...

I checked out this LC yesterday. Unfortunately, I didn't know about this thread until I was there, already checking it out. Oh well. Here's my findings (traillme, feel free to add if there's something I missed):

Exterior: Pretty good condition. In fact, the paint looked to be in great shape. But then again, it has definitely had some paint work (you can't tell by looking at the truck; its a good quality paint job), and the VINs on the body panels I checked match. So probably just a spruce-up; no signs of a major accident/frame damage. There are a few light scratches on the tailgate and a ding on the L rear door, but otherwise pretty nice. There are 2 EXTREMELY minor (you gotta look closely) trouble spots where rust has just begun on the lower edge of the rear windshield, right where the glass meets the weatherstripping. Common prob. w/ LCs to my knowledge.

Interior: Has the wood trim; is in "ok" condition. Would prob. need to be replaced. Airbag looks mint; steering wheel not so much (a fair amount of wear). Leather is in GREAT shape overall (not near mint, but pretty darn good condition). Ditto w/ carpet. Headliner is in good shape, except in the very rear near the rear gate, where it looks like someone's been rubbing their dirty hands on it for quite some time. Some light brownish/yellowish staining all over the very rear edge of it, from R to L.

Functions: Everything seems to work correctly. Couldn't find any parts/functions that don't work.

Powertrain: As I was pulling the truck outta the lot to get it checked out at an independent shop, the CEL came on lol. I kid you not. Oh well.

- CEL Codes P1780 (Parking/Neutral Switch) and P0401 (EGR Limited Flow). First one prob. is a straightforward fix. EGR codes, however, I rather run & hide from. Could get real expensive and tedious REAL fast tryin to get and keep that stupid CEL light off...

- There's fresh wet oil leaking from the block. Looks like it's at the bellhousing area (rear main seal?) and there's a leak at the front of the block as well. It's wet down there, so it's not a tiny leak.

- All hoses look original.

- A/C belt IS present. One of the alternator belts is missing, however.

- A/C system has no freon. Fan's working. Didn't pressure test the system, and dunno what the condition of the compressor is either.

- Front wheel bearings will need servicing; possibly replacing.

- Suspension is original.

- Tires have plenty of tread. Brake pads have been replaced.

- Exhaust has just been replaced.

- Brush guard has rust spots. Tons of rust on the rear tow hitch. No rust on the frame of the truck. Pretty clean undercarriage. No rust noted around roof rack attachement points.

- Truck def. hasn't been serviced regularly (or if so, not thoroughly). The driveshaft hasn't been lubed in FOREVER. Joint was completely dry. Not good.

- Spare tire is flat.

- R/F parking light is out and license plate lights are out

- There's a VERY small stone chip in the front windshield, in the lower driver side area. Super small, but present nonetheless.

All in all, I think the truck itself was in pretty good shape, but needed a good bit of wrench time & TLC to get it to where I'd want it to be (near mint). Addressing the rust on rear windshield area was a priority (a few hundred), no definite endcost on the CELs and A/C (depending on how much stuff ends up needing to be replaced) etc. made out for something that I would have to get a REAL good deal on. This truck was still priced at $7900. Too much money IMO, so I passed.

Hope this helps someone =-)
