1984 hj47 landcruiser ute build
thought i would finaly start a build thread on here.

I bought a 1984 hj47 ute on the 4/12/12 form Victoria. I am going to restore it to its former glory and get it registed in nsw as my work ute.

The ute has power steering, endless aircompressor, pto winch and apparently a rear Arb diff lock but I won't know until I undo the rear diff .

I fully cleaned the old girl out yesterday there was about a ten litre bucket of dirt and seeds in it but what do you know it has rust free floors which is good only rust on her is surface rust. I also got it running but it is in need of a good service and brake fluid so I actually stop. here are some pics from when i bought it. will ad more pics of it tomorrow have done a bit since i bought it.

The black box (with the 6-spade connector) on the LH side of your firewall is your alternator regulator.

That floor looks really immaculate Chappo.

Has someone already fitted a new body (white) while the old one (yellow) is in the tray?

And I second that other person's statement that the pressure switch is off a refrigeration/airconditioning system and used to turn a compressor off when the discharge pressure reaches a certain level (and it can be used to turn it back on again when it falls so as to maintain pressure between set limits).

The white part of the body is the original one and is beige underneath and the yellow cab is off another ute as the old bloke that owned the ute let his son take it out and he put it on a 45'degree angle onto a bank and stuffed the roof and door tops and windscreen frame. The ute has tiny bit of rust in roof as it is off the yellow cab I have started to fix the rust and the fix the electricts no fusible link and mess of wire every where

I thought it was interesting that it didn't have a steering column I ended up with 4 steering wheels with the ute and four steering shafts luck the bloke I bought if off found the one that belongs in it with spline on bottom end to go into the universal joint for the power steering but all up I have 6 steering wheels and 3 whole columns now as I bought a complete steering column setup off eBay so it actually steers now this is the new one so now I have an ignition switch so I have a key to start it sweat

Here is the steering column that the guy I bought it off put in it it was loose in the uni joint and it was only held up with the ignition wiring

Awesome buy, its looks and sounds like you have a solid base for your build. Hopefully you don't find any dodgey bog patches. I'm going to follow your build as I'm in the middle of my 83 HJ47 build at the moment as well. They sure are a great and solid 4wd. It will be a great work rig.

PTO winch is awesome, I found a complete one for my 47, changing all the bearings and seals now. It will be awesome when its all done.

And power steering you lucky bastard! I'm looking at a 60/75 series conversion.

My birthday present to my self came early today as my birthday isn't till the 22 got new brake and clutch systems and swivel hub and wheel bearing kits from terrain tamer awesome oh and new jack stands an air hose and a spare edic motor

Good to see another one being restored. i love the old aircon compressor.

Hopefully you can get it to pass rego soon. Another ute cruising the streets of the Hawkesbury would be good to see.

Which one is your I've seen three 40 floating around one with surface rust on the bonnet and original one with a tub that sits at Richmond high school some days and another beige one

Mine is pretty stock. Beige, split rims alloy try. And a long line of traffic behind me.

after 4 and a half months i got my ute in the shed after i cleaned it out 40 years of stuff.

the ute missed the beams by 2 inches but i bent the aerial for the radio as its on the roof

Started to fix the rust in the roof has 10 holes from tech screws that were holding up the roof liner. The roof has had a hard life it has rust and cracks in it as we'll as
Plenty of bog but I will have to wait to weld it up as
The power point is stuffed
So will have to get that fixed
