I was told by someone on here you can use a toyota car hazard light switch for the cdl switch. Does anyone know if this is true? I don't see many lc or lx450s in the junkyards around here and so I was wondering what car it was that the haz light switch that's interchangable with the cdl on a 97fzj80?

Yup, i a hazard switch works fine. I pulled one out of an old 4runner in the junk yard. Triangle is pointed sideways, but it doesn't matter. Just trim the tab off and it's good to go.

im pretty sure mine came out of either a carolla or a celica cant remember. it was at the pull apart.

I'm not 100% sure on the years but I have found 6 of them in the past week in a local junk yard out of the following vehicles:

94-97 Rav4 Center Diff Lock Switch AND Hazard Switch
91-94 Tercel Hazard Switch (my CDL is from a Tercel and it works fine)
89-95 4Runner Hazard Switch and maybe Rear Diff Lock Switch

And from looking online these years may also have the same switch:
88-92 Carina Hazard Switch
89-95 Tacoma Hazard Switch
01-04 Tacoma Hazard Switch
92-97 Paseo Hazard Switch (thanks mod5csi!)

All the Hazard switches need is the left key cut. See the picture I attached. Make it look like the 1 on the right with only 1 plastic key and not 2.

I have a few for sale if you want one!

92-97 Toyota Paseo also. Requires the same minor modification, and when installed the triangle will sit sideways.

Mine came off a 94 4Runner. I picked it up on ebay for $7 with another $4 to ship it. Works great. The symbol is sideways but I just made a little "CDL" sticker and put it over the symbol.

I used a hazard switch from an early 90s 4Runner and made my own ghetto-fabulous label :)

Here is mine in the dash. Was a Hazard, I replaced the icon inside the square hole and have a plastic cover...looks professional from the seat, can tell its off of a printer if you look close. Its the skull and crossbones one.

Ok thanks guys, so now I know there's more than one vehicles haz button I can use. Thanks a lot
